Ratings Strong, Budget Tighter
Despite the One Chicago franchise drawing over 45 million viewers in 2024–2025, NBC made cost-saving moves for Season 14. Insiders say the cast reductions are a result of reallocation rather than declining popularity.
Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett’s exits were described as amicable but necessary. Kyri’s portrayal of Ritter gave the show important social relevance, especially regarding LGBTQ+ representation in uniformed service. Lockett’s Carver brought unpredictable energy and tension to the firehouse.
