‘FBI: International’ Exclusive: Jesse Lee Soffer’s New Role Revealed — And Fans Are Buzzing!

We’re still more than a month out from FBI: International‘s season opener, but TVLine already has an exclusive first look at Chicago P.D. vet Jesse Lee Soffer’s debut on the well–watched CBS drama.

Soffer joined the CBS series in June, and as TVLine was first to report, he will play Supervisory Special Agent Wesley “Wes” Mitchell. Wes is described as charming and rakish, an agent whose impeccable instincts and unconventional tactics fuel his drive to stop at nothing to achieve justice.

But when we next lay eyes on the FBI: International Fly Team, Wes has not yet joined the mix.

“Wes is not with the team when the season opens,” showrunner Matt Olmstead tells TVLine, “as viewers meet him when he is investigating a ‘tourism robbery’ crew in Los Angeles — and dealing with turbulence with his girlfriend.”

Earlier this week, TVLine confirmed a report that Station 19 vet Jay Hayden also is joining FBI: International, at midseason, in the recurring role of Tyler Booth, an “intelligent and charismatic agent in Budapest looking for assistance on a case.”

Soffer exited prolific TV producer Dick Wolf’s Chicago P.D. in October 2022, after playing Jay Halstead since the NBC procedural’s launch in 2014. On-screen, Halstead left for Bolivia, where he has been leading a military unit tracking the most dangerous cartel targets.

Soffer in joining FBI: International fills a void left by original cast member Luke Kleintank, who in April announced his “difficult decision” to exit the Budapest-based procedural, where since Day 1 he played Supervisory Special Agent Scott Forrester. “[It] is driven by my unwavering commitment to my family, whose love and well-being are paramount in my life,” Kleintank explained.

Kleintank’s character went AWOL in last season’s penultimate episode; the finale then revealed that Scott had synched up with his spy-crafty fugitive mom, Angela Cassidy, and they are now on the run.

FBI: International Season 4 premieres Oct. 15, once again airing Tuesdays at 9/8c. The cast also includes Carter Redwood, Vinessa Vidotto, Christina Wolfe and Eva-Jane Willis.
