What Happens When Minnie Driver Meets Mystery & Murder? ‘The Faithful’ Might Have the Answer

What do you get when you mix a seasoned Academy Award-nominated actress, a Burn Notice fan-favorite, and a rising action star? You get Part 1 of FOX’s explosive event series, The Faithful. Minnie Driver, Jeffrey Donovan, and Natacha Karam have been confirmed to headline this thrilling new saga—and trust us, the buzz is real. FOX is back with a vengeance, delivering a star-studded mystery series that’s part psychological drama, part dark thriller, and 100% binge-worthy.

Minnie Driver (Cinderella), Jeffrey Donovan (Fargo) and 9-1-1: Lone Star alumna Natacha Karam have been tapped as leads in the first installment of The Faithful, Fox‘s six-episode Biblical limited series from Carol Mendelsohn, Rene Echevarria and Fox Entertainment Studios.

Driver will play Sarah, Donovan will portray Abraham and Karam is set as Hagar in Part 1, which will be directed and executive produced by Danny Cannon. The Faithful will premiere Sunday, March 22 and air in three, two-hour installments leading into the finale on Easter Sunday, April 5.

The event series is based on The Old Testament’s Book of Genesis and will be told through the eyes of five of The Bible’s most iconic women: Sarah and her former slave Hagar, Sarah’s great-niece Rebekah, and Rebekah’s nieces, sisters Leah and Rachel. The first installment focuses on Sarah & Hagar.

In it, Sarah (Driver) feels incomplete without the child that has been promised to her and her husband, Abraham (Donovan), by God. After braving isolation, famine, the ire of Pharaoh, and several more years of barrenness, she resorts to her own plan to bring a child into the world involving her maidservant Hagar (Karam) and Abraham. However, jealousy soon sets in after Hagar gives birth to Ishmael (from whose lineage the Islamic religion traces its roots). Then a miracle happens… And personal freedoms are at odds with long-held grievances and shattered love.

Wholly owned by Fox Entertainment, The Faithful comes from Fox Entertainment Studios and is distributed worldwide by Fox Entertainment Global. Under her first-look broadcast direct deal with Fox, Mendelsohn serves as executive producer along with Julie Weitz and Echevarria, who wrote the pilot and will also serve as showrunner. The series begins production this summer in Rome and Matera, Italy. Driver will juggle the shoot with her recurring role on the upcoming fifth season of Netflix’s Emily In Paris, which is filmed in France and Italy.

She was last seen as Elizabeth I in season 2 of Starz’s The Serpent Queen. Driver is repped by CAA, Independent Talent Group, Untitled Entertainment and Yorn, Levine, Barnes et al. Donovan is known for starring as Michael Westen in Burn Notice and his role in Season 2 of Fargo. He recently was a series regular on Law & Order and will next be seen in Wardriver with Dane Dehaan for Star Thrower. Donovan is repped by Gersh and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof and Fishman.

Karam was a series regular on Fox’s 9-1-1: Lone Star for its five-season run. She also appeared in Old Guard, NBC’s The Brave and Shotime’s Homeland. Karam is repped by Conway van Gelder Grant, Gersh and Luber Roklin Entertainment. Cannon recently worked on the Epix series Pennyworth and directed the pilot for the CW’s Gotham Knights. He’s repped by CAA, Sugar23 and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher.
