Virgin River’s Next Chapter: Season 8 Officially Confirmed by Netflix

Call the phone tree, prep the picnic baskets, and gather the sewing circle — it’s time to celebrate. Netflix has officially renewed Virgin River for Season 8, ensuring fans will be spending even more time with Mel, Jack, Doc, Hope, and all the familiar faces (and a few new ones) from their favorite small-town escape.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of Virgin River wrapping production on its highly anticipated seventh season — and while Season 7 has yet to premiere, the renewal for Season 8 is a comforting promise that the heartwarming drama is far from over.

“On behalf of myself and the whole Virgin River family, we’re eternally grateful to Netflix and to the fans for allowing us to continue on this journey with these beloved characters,” shared showrunner Patrick Sean Smith in an exclusive statement to Netflix’s Tudum.

A Love Story — and a Town — That Keeps Growing

At the center of Virgin River is Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse practitioner who sought a fresh start in the misty wilds of Northern California — and found more than she bargained for, including a complicated, deeply human love with local bartender Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson).

By the end of Season 6, fans finally witnessed the wedding bells they’d been hoping for as Mel and Jack officially said “I do.” But that doesn’t mean their journey is complete.

According to Smith, Season 7 will dive into the couple’s first year of married life as they begin building their future and growing their family. Meanwhile, fan-favorites Doc (Tim Matheson) and Hope (Annette O’Toole) are preparing for battles of their own — fighting to preserve the clinic and protect Virgin River’s integrity from unwelcome outsiders.

Filming Secrets and What’s to Come

Season 7 was filmed earlier this year in and around Vancouver, with a scenic detour to Mexico, teasing new locations and plotlines for fans to speculate about. Netflix has confirmed that both Seasons 7 and 8 will consist of 10 episodes each, giving viewers 20 more hours of emotional storytelling, cozy town drama, and candlelit romance.

And with Season 8 now greenlit, Virgin River continues its impressive streak as Netflix’s longest-running original English-language drama, a testament to its loyal fanbase and enduring appeal.

The Heart of Virgin River Still Beats Strong

While Netflix hasn’t confirmed when Season 7 will premiere, fans can rest easy knowing there’s plenty more of Virgin River ahead — filled with love, loss, healing, community, and the kind of tender drama that has kept audiences coming back season after season.

So whether you’ve followed Mel and Jack from day one or recently discovered this comforting gem, one thing is clear: the journey through Virgin River is far from over.

Stay tuned for everything Season 7 and 8 — and keep the coffee warm at Jack’s Bar.
