‘FBI’ Season 8 Adds Former ‘SVU’ Star Juliana Aidén Martinez as Series Regular

When it comes to filling the void left by the early Season 7 exit of Special Agent Tiffany Wallace (played by Katherine Renee Kane)… the third time, it turns out, was not the charm for CBS‘ FBI.

Magnum P.I. and S.W.A.T. vet Emily Alabi, who on April 1 made her FBI debut as Special Agent Dani Rhodes — and in doing so earned a TVLine reader grade of “B+” — will return this fall for Season 8, but only to wrap up her character’s storyline.

In turn joining FBI in a series regular role, Deadline reports, will be Juliana Aidén Martinez, who on Law & Order: SVU this past TV season played Det. Kate Silva. (Martinez was among two actors not asked back for Season 27 of the NBC procedural.)

Sources confirm for TVLine that Martinez will be playing a brand-new character on FBI, despite the CBS crime drama and NBC’s SVU both falling under the purview of prolific producer Dick Wolf.

To yet again recap…. In the wake of Kane’s early-Season 7 exit, FBI gave John Boyd’s Special Agent Stuart Scola a purposely fleeting new partner (who after one episode decided that she could never fill Tiffany’s considerable shoes), followed by an unexpectedly short-term partner (played by National Treasure: Edge of History‘s Lisette Olivera).

The aforementioned April 1 episode, “Covered,” introduced Alabi’s Special Agent Rhodes with a robust storyline that both told us much about her as a LEO and had her play a role in saving the life of no less than Special Agent Maggie Bell (Missy Peregrym).

What do you think about CBS’ FBI adding a very recent SVU actor to its ranks, as a new character?
