You know that old saying that misery makes for strange bedfellows? Well, that may be true, but we weren’t quite prepared for how strange Days of Our Lives‘ potential new, er, bedfellows might be! We’re talking, of course, of Gabi and Xander — and the sneaking suspicion we have that they’re about to head into couple territory!
That’s something that we never would have even considered before this week, but it looks like Days of Our Lives just set up the perfect storm to push them together. On Monday, Gabi griped to Javi about how miserable she is, how much she hates Xander, and how much she detests working for him. In real life, that would be that. You hate someone and just want nothing to do with them.
But in the soap world, few things are a better sign that a couple’s about to find their way together! Heck, going from hate to love (and back again), is pretty much Gabi’s M.O. Maybe if Xander and Sarah were fine and dandy and Victoria was happy at home, Gabi’s hatred might go nowhere. But the couple isn’t fine. And Victoria’s in the office with daddy, which was enough to soften Gabi’s ire with her boss.
In fact, she might be just about the only person getting through to Xander right now. When Gabi fondly recalled her own daughter’s baby days, she told Xander that little Victoria’s just at that age where she wants her mother. That morose look on Xander’s face made clear that he heard her… and may even be reconsidering how bad his and Sarah’s fighting is for Victoria. Gabi being the one to convince Xander he’s being a stubborn jerk would be huge, and in the long run, he might even be thankful to her for helping him and Sarah work out what’s best for their daughter.
And then there’s Gabi’s daughter, Arianna! Victoria may have brought out her softer side with Xander, and if spoilers for Friday are any indication, Ari’s kidnapping is about to do the same with Xander when he goes out of his way to comfort Gabi.
Xander put a stop to a Gwen reunion, but that was a drunken fling with someone with whom he has a very complicated past. And while Ari’s disappearance would have at one time pushed Gabi to lean on JJ, those two have hardly even interacted for months. That’s seemed odd unless Days of Our Lives has been maneuvering the two into place to start a whole new chapter of their lives — together!
