After Grey’s Anatomy Broke Her Character, This Former Star Is Finally Getting the Spotlight She Deserves

Grey’s Anatomy is one of the most successful shows ever and has seen a wide range of prominent actors appearing and then going on to have successful careers. However, the show has also seen several characters depart with unsatisfactory conclusions to their stories, leaving fans wishing they had been around for longer.

Abigail Spencer had a prominent role in the show between 2017-2022, when she was part of the cast of Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Megan Hunt. Megan was a popular character who didn’t get as much screen time as she should have, and her arc on the show concluded in a very anticlimactic fashion. Her ending left Grey’s Anatomy fans more than a little upset.

However, since departing the long-running medical drama, Spencer’s career trajectory hasn’t slowed down. It’s now looking better than ever after the recent news that she’s landed the co-lead role in Fox’s new medical drama, Best Medicine.

Megan’s initial story arc on Grey’s Anatomy only spanned around a handful of episodes. A former army vet and the sister of Owen Hunt, Megan disappeared for 10 years while serving in Iraq. She was eventually found, and became part of the series. She eventually wound up moving to Los Angeles with her partner Nathan, and while it wasn’t one of the worst Grey’s Anatomy character exits, it certainly felt incomplete.

Although Megan did return to the show for one brief episode, it was revealed that she and Nathan had split, which upset many fans, who felt that the plot had sold her character short. Megan and Nathan either should have stayed together, or she should have been given the agency to make her own choices and move where she wanted for her own reasons, especially as she had a son.

Abigail Spencer Has Had Success Since – And Now Has A New Medical Show To Lead

It’s The Perfect Opportunity To Make Up For Megan’s Underdeveloped Storylines

Abigail Spencer looks serious in Suits

It’s great to see Spencer doing well post-Grey’s, and that her career is continuing in a successful direction. Her leading another medical show is exciting, and should come naturally after her stint on Grey’sBest Medicine is set to be a very different show from Grey’s Anatomy, but it could give Spencer another long-running character to explore.

Heading up her own show again as co-lead gives Spencer another chance to test her range as an actress. It will be the perfect opportunity to make up for Megan’s underdeveloped storyline. As a potential rival to St. Denis Medical, Fox’s Best Medicine has a strong chance of becoming a success and helping Spencer maintain her career trajectory.
