FBI Season 8: What’s Next for Maggie Bell After the Shocking Finale?

FBI season 7 brought a lot of drama to Maggie Bell’s life, so what could be on the docket for her in season 8 of the hit drama? We take a look at the possibilities.

FBI hasn’t seen as much major cast overhaul as other CBS crime shows. A mainstay from the beginning in 2018 has been Missy Peregrym as Maggie Bell, the tough agent always risking herself in the field. While she has suffered some major injuries on the job (including nearly dying in a bioweapon attack), Maggie’s refusal to back down from any challenges is a key reason fans love her.

But what could be coming for our intrepid agent as FBI season 8 is set to hit this fall on CBS?

Season 7 opened with Maggie still on the job while also raising Ella, the daughter of Maggie’s good friend Jessica Blake, who died in season 6. Maggie was struggling with the idea of being a foster mom and a case involving a serial killer she’d once put away had her deciding that her life was too dangerous. She couldn’t risk leaving Ella orphaned again so let her go off to live with her uncle.

Things got trickier for Maggie when she tried to help a young girl kidnapped as part of a trafficking ring. She was aided by a 911 operator named Joel, and the pair hit it off well and soon into a relationship.

Maggie was nearly killed on an undercover operation, and later, it was revealed she and Joel had broken up off-screen. Another operation nearly had Maggie killed in a bombing, but she was able to recover to help the team in the thrilling season 7 finale.

With all that happening, what could occur with Maggie in season 8?

What could happen to Maggie in FBI season 8?

The big move for Maggie in season 8 is the same as everyone else in FBI: Finding out the fate of Isobel. The final scene of season 7 had her collapsing in front of the team, seemingly poisoned by someone.

Isobel’s fate will be a key issue and the question of whether she survives or not. If she does, things may settle down, but if Isobel dies (or at least is forced to quit over health reasons), it will naturally shake up the office.

This may lead Maggie to make some big choices in her career. She’s been a great agent but might feel it’s time to take up a supervisory position. Given how many times she’s nearly been killed on the job, Maggie might just think sticking to the office is a lot safer.

As for her personal life, Maggie hasn’t had a lot of luck in romances due to her job. This may be another reason why switching to a position out of fieldwork can help her. She and OA continue to be a great partnership, although they’re likely better off as friends than any romance between them.

Again, a lot of Maggie’s fate in season 8 will depend on what happens to Isobel, but hopefully, one way or the other, she will continue as one of the FBI’s best agents!
