Yakima, Wash. — We’ve been keeping a close eye on 9-year-old Yakima chef Asher Niles, who was in the MasterChef junior competition. Unfortunately for Asher, his time on MasterChef junior came to an end Monday.
Asher was in the semi-finals along with three other home cooks, where they had to follow along with Gordon Ramsay and make a duck a l’orange dish.
Unfortunately, Asher had the weaker dish of the four remaining contestants and was sent home.
“That was a hard episode, I’m sad to leave, but I’m so happy of the experience i got… I got to meet all these new people, who are my best friends forever now. And meeting Gordon Ramsay, that’s insane, there’s not a lot of kids who get to do that so I think that’s really cool.”
We hope to speak with Asher soon to reflect on his journey to becoming a celebrity chef.
