From Stage to Screen: Donnie Wahlberg turns fan party into Boston Blue Sneak Peek

Donnie Wahlberg knows how to keep fans excited both on stage and on screen.

During an after-party celebrating New Kids on the Block’s Las Vegas residency, Wahlberg gave fans an unexpected treat: fresh details about his upcoming CBS series Boston Blue, the highly anticipated Blue Bloods spinoff.

Back in June, Wahlberg launched The Official Right Stuff NKOTB Residency After Party – a post-show fan hangout that takes place after every concert. But at the July 5th event, he took things to the next level. Speaking directly to fans, he revealed that he’s preparing to jump straight from the stage to the set.

“I gotta start filming a TV show on Monday,” Wahlberg told the crowd, who erupted in cheers. “This is what we’re going to be doing on Fridays until we get back here in November. Let’s go!”

A fan-captured video from the event showed Wahlberg mingling with supporters, even while nursing a leg injury he picked up while performing. He admitted needing to rest filming for Boston Blue was starting just two days later, on July 7.

Wahlberg is reprising his iconic role as Detective Danny Reagan, the no-nonsense, heart-driven NYPD officer fans grew to love over 14 seasons of Blue Bloods. But this time, the streets are different. In Boston Blue, Danny trades New York for Boston, joining the Boston Police Department in a brand-new chapter of his career.

And he’s not stopping there. According to reports, Wahlberg is actively campaigning to bring back more Blue Bloods fan favorites — starting with none other than Tom Selleck, who played family patriarch Frank Reagan.

A source told Closer Weekly, “Donnie wants to do this for him. Not only because it’s the right thing to do, but also because he loves working with Tom.”

With Wahlberg’s passion, a strong ensemble, and the spirit of the Reagans still alive and well, Boston Blue is shaping up to be one of the most exciting TV events of the year.
