Blue Bloods may have come to a close in December 2024, but 2025 is shaping up to be yet another busy and exciting year for Donnie Wahlberg (AKA Danny Reagan). In February, he and his wife, Jenny McCarthy, released Very Scary Lovers, a spin-off of Very Scary People. In March, he announced that he’d be reprising his role as Danny in his very own Blue Bloods spin-off, Boston Blue. And in June, he announced The Official Right Stuff NKOTB Residency After Party in Las Vegas. Speaking of, as of his latest After Party on July 5th, we now know the Boston Blue timeline.
According to a fan video from the event, Donnie took the stage at The Right Stuff After Party Experience Hosted by Donnie Wahlberg on Saturday, July 5, to thank NKOTB fans for their unwavering support. During his speech, he revealed that he hurt his leg while performing earlier in the night and needed to take it easy for the rest of the party to ensure he could show up in top shape for his other role: as Danny Reagan on Boston Blue.
“I gotta start filming a TV show on Monday,” he explained to the audience, at which point the crowd broke out into Boston Blue chants and Donnie started fist-pumping with excitement in response. “You know, this is what we’re going to be doing on Fridays until we get back here in November. Let’s go!”
Donnie’s comment is in reference to the fact that Boston Blue is set to premiere in Fall 2025, taking over Blue Bloods’ Friday 9/10c time slot, and more NKOTB shows are scheduled for November 2025. While on the topic, Boston Blue will follow Danny, fresh off a move to Boston. As it currently stands, the reason for his move is unclear; however, given how captivating Blue Bloods was for 14 years, fans can anticipate a must-watch spin-off with him at the helm.
