Heartland Is Leaving Netflix—Here’s Where to Watch the Virgin River Alternative Next

The countdown is on for U.S. viewers of one of Netflix’s coziest, most comforting dramas.

After nearly a decade of streaming, the beloved Canadian series Heartland—often hailed as a Virgin River-style favorite for fans of emotional storytelling, family dynamics, and breathtaking rural landscapes—is galloping off Netflix in the United States.

According to the Netflix listing, the last day to stream Heartland will be Thursday, July 31, 2025. Starting August 1, Seasons 1–16 (that’s 249 episodes!) will be removed from the platform. Even more disappointing for fans: Heartland’s more recent installments—Seasons 17 and 18—never made it to Netflix U.S. as expected.

But don’t saddle up for disappointment just yet—there’s good news.

While Netflix may be saying goodbye, Heartland remains available across several other streaming platforms. UP Faith & Family continues to serve as the official U.S. home for new seasons, releasing full episodes months after they air on Canada’s CBC. Season 18, which wrapped in Canada late last year, debuted on UP Faith & Family back in April.

You can also find Heartland episodes (in full or in part) streaming on:

  • Hallmark Movies Now

  • Amazon Prime Video

  • Peacock

  • The CW

  • The Roku Channel

A Look at What’s Ahead

Even as its Netflix era ends, Heartland is still going strong. The family-focused drama—set on a sprawling Alberta ranch—was renewed for Season 19, with 10 new episodes confirmed. Filming began in May 2025, though no premiere date has been announced yet.

The most recent season dove deep into new challenges for the Bartlett-Fleming family. As drought threatens the ranch and new competition emerges, Amy, Lou, Jack, and Tim must face their toughest trials yet. With themes of resilience, family unity, and the healing power of horses, Heartland continues to strike an emotional chord.

A Farewell (For Now)

While many American fans discovered Heartland through Netflix, this transition marks just another chapter in the show’s impressive run. For viewers craving the heartwarming, small-town energy of Virgin River, Heartland remains a worthy companion—just on a different streaming trail.

Mark your calendars for July 31, and consider this your cue to binge a few favorite episodes before they ride off into the digital sunset.

Stay tuned for more updates on Season 19—and where to find your next Virgin River-adjacent obsession.
