Gordon Ramsay Uncovered: The Untold Story Behind the First Family of British Cuisine

With a blowtorch temper and language bluer than the rawest of steaks, Gordon Ramsay sits in a unique position atop the upper echelons of British haute cuisine. His signature restaurant earned three Michelin stars, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest eateries to grace the streets of London. With high octane back-of-house television shows like Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, Ramsay has amassed a mass-media empire and a reputation for his ruthless pursuit of perfection.

But away from the pressure cooker world of fine dining, he’s begun to reveal himself as quite the family man. ‘The kids have brought the most emotion out of me,’ the chef told People magazine, describing himself as the ‘softie’ of the family compared to his wife Tana. Since becoming parents in 1998, the couple have welcomed six children – who are now beginning to take up the family mantle themselves. And with the announcement of Netflix’s new documentary Being Gordon Ramsay, let Tatler take you through the rising stars in the first family of food.

Holly’s twin brother, Jack Ramsay, is a royal marine. His father took to Instagram to celebrate his son’s ‘amazing achievement’ after joining the navy. ‘You’ve made me feel like the proudest father today,’ he captioned a photo of Jack in his new uniform. Fans of the family may recognise the oldest Ramsay son from the 2019 documentary Born Famous, where the children of celebrity parents are given a first-hand insight of what life might have been like had they not grown up in the lap of luxury. Not that Gordon Ramsay has indulged in any undue mollycoddling. In an interview with GQ, Jack said that his father taught him a ‘work hard, play hard’ ethic. ‘Sometimes I think you work harder, maybe too hard sometimes,’ he told Gordon, ‘but we have quality time together. We go for drives and we play sports.’ Indeed, both Jack and Gordon have run the London Marathon – though with work that hard, hopefully they found time to unwind after.
