Blue Bloods Fans Revive Series on Paramount+ in Anticipation of Boston Blue

Blue Bloods rises through the streaming charts ahead of the upcoming spinoff series starring Donnie Wahlberg.

Per Flix Patrol, Blue Bloods has officially broken through to the number 10 spot on the top 10 streaming shows chart for Paramount+ for June 29. The long-running police drama came to an unexpected close last year, with the final episode of Blue Bloods premiering on CBS on December 13.

Created by Robin Green and Mitchell Burgess, Blue Bloods starred Tom Selleck as New York City Police Commissioner Frank Raegan, son of retired law Commissioner Henry Reagan (portrayed by Len Cariou) and patriarch of one of NYC’s most well-known enforcement families. The series’ core cast is rounded out by Bridget Moynahan as ADA Erin Reagan, Will Estes as Officer (later Sergeant) Jamie Reagan, Donnie Wahlberg as Detective Danny Reagan, Jennifer Esposito as Detective Jackie Curatola, Marisa Ramirez as Detective Maria Baez, Amy Carlson as Linda Reagan, Vanessa Ray as Officer Eddie Janko-Reagan, and Sami Gayle as Nicky Reagan-Boyle. Over the course of 14 seasons, Blue Bloods amassed a whopping 293 episodes.

Following the news of Blue Bloods’ cancellation, Selleck himself opened up about leaving the series behind. “I think it was just really the continuity,” Selleck said regarding what he will miss most about Blue Bloods. “I know that doesn’t fit in a little box, but it wasn’t like a light bulb went off one day and I said, oh, this is the best moment. There were so many… On an ensemble like this, you could go three, four weeks and never see some of your fellow actors,” he explained. “It’s just work on different days and all on Blue Bloods every eight days, which is how long it took to do an episode, you were all going to get together at that family dinner table. And that’s what I think I’ll miss most.”

What’s Next for the World of Blue Bloods When Boston Blue Premieres?

Blue Bloods might be over, but the story of the Reagan family isn’t done yet. Donnie Wahlberg is currently scheduled to return to the role of Detective Danny Reagan in Boston Blue, a new series that will follow the character and his new partner as they investigate crimes throughout the city of Boston. Boston Blue will also star Somequa Martin-Green as Lena Peters, a Boston detective who is partnered with Wahlberg’s Reagan shortly after he makes the move from NYC. The series is being led by Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis as co-showrunners, along with Jerry Bruckheimer Television’s Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed, who will be producing alongside Wahlberg.
