Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson Lead Cast of Netflix’s ‘Virgin River’

Small-town drama based on Robyn Carr’s bestselling novels

Netflix’s Virgin River, inspired by Robyn Carr’s hugely popular book series, brought together a strong ensemble cast to bring the beloved small-town stories to life.

Alexandra Breckenridge (This Is Us) stars as Melinda “Mel” Monroe, a nurse practitioner who leaves behind a painful past in Los Angeles in search of a fresh start in the quiet Northern California town of Virgin River. She quickly learns that small-town life is more complicated than she expected.

Martin Henderson (Grey’s Anatomy) plays Jack Sheridan, a former Marine commander who has settled into Virgin River to escape the chaos of his previous life. His path soon crosses with Mel’s, sparking a deep and complicated connection.

Rounding out the central cast are Tim Matheson (Hart of Dixie, The Good Fight) as the town’s gruff but respected doctor, and Annette O’Toole (Smallville, Halt and Catch Fire) as the town’s outspoken and fiercely loyal mayor.

The ensemble also features Jenny Cooper, David Cubitt, Lexa Doig, Daniel Gillies, Lauren Hammersley, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Colin Lawrence, and Ian Tracey.

Based on a 20-book series that has sold over 13 million copies, Virgin River was developed for television by Sue Tenney (Good Witch, Cedar Cove), who served as showrunner and executive producer alongside Roma Roth and Chris Perry of Reel World Management.

The series combines heartfelt drama, emotional healing, and romantic tension, drawing fans into the close-knit, often complicated community of Virgin River.
