Fire Country Spinoff ‘Sheriff Country’ Officially Announced – Cast Reveals & Plot Details Inside!

CBS is doubling down on the success of its hit series Fire Country by officially greenlighting a spinoff series, Sheriff Country. The upcoming drama will center around Sheriff Mickey Fox, a character first introduced in Fire Country Season 2 and played by Morena Baccarin.

The announcement was made on February 20, 2025, as part of Paramount Global’s slate of renewals and new programming.

“These returning shows represent a mix of long-standing hits and a new generation of fan favorites,” said Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment, in a statement. “In collaboration with our extraordinarily talented partners in front of and behind the camera, we look forward to delivering another successful season.”

🕵️‍♀️ What Is Sheriff Country About?

Sheriff Country will shift the focus from firefighting to law enforcement, while still being set in the Fire Country town of Edgewater. The series follows Sheriff Mickey Fox, a tough, straight-talking law enforcer and stepsister to Cal Fire Division Chief Sharon Leone (Diane Farr). As she patrols the streets of Edgewater, Mickey must juggle local crimes, her complicated relationship with her ex-convict father (played by W. Earl Brown), and a mysterious case involving her estranged daughter.

The storylines promise a gritty, character-driven crime drama — while still maintaining emotional and thematic ties to the parent series.

🔗 How Sheriff Country Connects to Fire Country

Fans were first introduced to Mickey in the Fire Country Season 2 episode “Alert the Sheriff”, where she shared a tense family reunion with Sharon. It was also revealed that Mickey was the one who originally arrested Bode Leone (Max Thieriot), the series’ central character.

In a key moment of redemption and reconciliation, Bode later helped Sheriff Mickey uncover and arrest a corrupt deputy responsible for killing her predecessor. The fallout from that investigation is expected to impact Mickey’s trajectory in the spinoff.
