CBS is expanding its comedy lineup with a fresh new project from NCIS star Wilmer Valderrama, who’s stepping into the producer’s chair to bring a bold and hilarious new series to life.
Valderrama is best known for starring as Nicholas “Nick” Torres in NCIS. You may also recognize him from his iconic role as Fez in the popular teen sitcom That ’70s Show. Some of his other acting work includes roles in shows like Royal Pains, Awake, Raising Hope, From Dusk till Dawn: The Series, Minority Report, Grey’s Anatomy and That ’90s Show. Now, he’s set to take on a new challenge behind the scenes as an executive producer, bringing his experience and creative vision to a promising new comedy series in development at CBS.
According to Deadline, the upcoming CBS show is titled Blanks and it’s in the early development phase. It’s also described as a single-camera comedy. Think of shows like The Office, Parks and Recreation or Modern Family. The camera setup will be similar to that of series like these. Comedian Aaron Karo will be writing the script and serving as an executive producer, alongside Valderrama’s production company, WV Entertainment, and CBS Studios.
Blanks is about a man who dates a lot but doesn’t settle down. However, his life changes when he discovers that his biological clock is running out. At the same time, he meets the perfect woman for him, but ironically, she isn’t ready to commit to a serious relationship yet. Based on the plot alone, we can already tell that this series will deliver plenty of laughs and possibly even some heartfelt moments.
Given that the show is still in early development, no actors have been officially cast yet. A director hasn’t been attached to the project either. However, we should begin learning more details about the cast, crew, and production timeline as development progresses. But for now, this is all that has been revealed so far.
While waiting for more information on Blanks, you can check out Valderrama in the latest installment of NCIS. The twenty-second season has already finished airing on CBS, but you can currently watch it on Paramount+ with a subscription. NCIS season 23 is expected to premiere on CBS this fall. We’ll get back to you with the official premiere date as soon as it is announced.
