Kin Shriner, 71, has played Scott Baldwin on General Hospital since 1977. Scott played a pivotal role on the ABC soap for decades.
However, over the past several years, the character has often disappeared off-screen without any explanation. That was the case when Scott was embroiled in helping Ava (Maura West) switch out Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) bipolar medication, but suddenly went out for snacks and never came back.
The last time Scott was on-screen was in August 2024, and it appears that’s the end of the run for Shriner. Shriner took to X to reveal that his dressing room at General Hospital has been given to Jens Austin Astrup, who plays Kai on the daytime drama.
“This day comes for all actors kin who !!!all u can do is wash it down with a martini and know that people want to take a pic with u every day I had a great run thanks @GeneralHospital fans for decades of support !!!,” he wrote on X while including a picture of the dressing room sign.Shriner has used social media at various times to indicate he wasn’t filming the show, alluding to his time on General Hospital coming to an end. In 2023, he shared via X, “I just found out Scotty @GeneralHospital was written out I thank u @GeneralHospital fans for decades of supporting me !!”
As General Hospital fans know, Shriner and Scotty did come back for another stint. However, thanks to another actor now occupying Shriner’s dressing room, it seems Scotty’s run in Port Charles has come to an end.
Then again, it’s a soap, and anything is possible, especially when it comes to Scott Baldwin.
