Jamie Dornan has played lovers, killers, and amnesiacs—but his next role might be his weirdest yet: a fictionalized version of himself.
In an upcoming A24 film simply titled Jamie, Dornan plays a struggling actor haunted by the ghost of a character he once played—an obvious wink to Christian Grey. But this isn’t parody. It’s a dark, philosophical meta-drama where fiction and reality blur until they collapse.
The film features a version of his family, distorted Hollywood landscapes, and eerie dream sequences where Dornan is chased by paparazzi who quote his own lines back at him.
“I didn’t write it,” Jamie said. “But it felt like someone had been watching my dreams.”
Directed by a European art-house filmmaker known for bending reality, Jamie is already generating buzz on the festival circuit. Critics are calling it “Charlie Kaufman meets Birdman, but Irish and angry.”
Whether audiences embrace it or not, Dornan doesn’t care. “It was therapy,” he said. “Even if no one watches, it freed something in me.”
