The Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Two (or Three!) Major Characters Return to Stir Up Drama

Two returns and the emotions they dredged up were center stage this week on Bold & Beautiful. And as we get ever-closer to another character’s departure, it’s still unclear exactly how the exit will go down. Read on for details…

Ridge’s Ruffled Feathers

Not gonna lie: Anything that ticks off Ridge — as Nick’s return did this week — is fine by me. I find the designer to be downright insufferable. (That, by the way, is something of a tribute to Thorsten Kaye, whom I’ve loved since first he played One Life to Live‘s perfectly-coiffed poet, Patrick Thornhart.) Listening to Ridge declare Nick “such a tool” and then saying his half brother and Bill were both “egomaniacs” left me wanting Brooke’s supposed destiny to glance into a mirror. It also made me realize that Brooke definitely has a type, for better or worse.

What I 100 percent don’t want — but am pretty sure we’re about to get — is Brooke using Nick to make Ridge jealous. Now, if I thought for a moment that would result in her giving up on Ridge upon realizing that she could be happy with Nick, I’d be on board. But I have zero doubt that this will simply be the latest tale in which Ridge hurts Taylor in order to reunite with Brooke.

My favorite thing about this story so far? The way Rebecca Budig is playing Taylor’s amusement at Ridge’s jealousy. I mean, the shrink should say, “Screw this, I’m outta here,” but at least we’re getting to see her portrayer’s lighter side.

Baby On Board?

The other return this week was Daphne, with Steffy pushing her gal pal to jump on a jet and come back to Los Angeles. But like so many other stories on this show, there’s a real lack of logic here. In what universe does Daphne have to be at Forrester Creations in order to create a new scent? Heck, Steffy’s reaction to the men’s line sample would indicate Daphne’s already whipped up a winner. Are we to somehow think that Forrester has a better lab than the one the world’s most heralded perfumer has at her disposal in Paris?

Daphne Carter kiss bold beautiful B&B

But of course, business has nothing to do with the real reason the show wants Daphne to return. Based on the way the French beauty shot down Steffy’s proposal, we’re left to assume two things: Daphne will be sashaying down the hallways of Forrester sooner rather than later… and she’ll be doing so with Carter’s baby in her belly.

“But they didn’t sleep together,” you’re no doubt saying. “Are you sure?” I respond. Because I’m convinced that they most definitely did, off camera, the night before he reunited with Hope and Daphne skipped town.

Going, Going… Not Quite Gone

I’m going to need the parents out there to back me up: Wouldn’t you be livid to find out that some rando woman who was showing up at your offspring’s school had been invited by the teacher to hang out? Also, if some psycho was stalking your family and your child came home saying “I met this cool stranger who gave me a present,” wouldn’t you be freaked out? Maybe ask what the woman looked like?

For that matter, shouldn’t Steffy and Finn have showed their kids a picture of Luna and said, “If this woman ever approaches you, make sure to tell an adult.” I assume this is somehow all building up to the inevitability of Jacqueline MacInnes Wood’s maternity leave, but I can’t quite figure out how we’re going to get from here to there. Random Thoughts

• I’ve long said that no soap is better at establishing its location. So I loved that they referenced the fires which not so long ago ravaged the real-world’s Los Angeles. Sure, it was a way to save money by repurposing the beach house, but it also made sense… at least as long as you don’t think about how much of a commute those poor kids had, what with Malibu being nearly 50 miles away from L.A.

• I was glad to see Taylor kinda sorta call out Eric for the role in played in “reuniting” Brooke and Ridge on the runway. Sure, she knows as well as we do that he’s #TeamBrooke, but it made sense for her to address the proverbial elephant in the room.

•.I nearly spit out my mid-day mai tai when Ridge asked Taylor a pointed question and, when she did the traditional soap opera pause-for-dramatic-purposes thing, asked, “Can you not wait so long to answer a question?” A script writer was clearly having fun with that particular soap trope.
