There’s a new power player in the NCIS: Los Angeles office — and she’s not here to make friends.
Entertainment Weekly has your exclusive first look at Nia Long stepping into the role of Shay Mosley, the new executive assistant director of the West Coast team. With the NCIS: LA crew still reeling from the loss of beloved Assistant Director Owen Granger (the late Miguel Ferrer), Mosley’s arrival promises to shake things up in a big way.
According to executive producer R. Scott Gemmill, fans should expect someone “very different from what our team has dealt with in the past.” And that difference starts at the top. “Nia fits perfectly as a strong woman with a distinctive point of view,” Gemmill says. “We play her as a Washington insider who thinks our team, as good as they are, can do better. She’s here to see them reach their full potential… whether they want to or not.”
But she’s not coming alone. Mosley brings with her Special Agent Harley Hidoko, played by Andrea Bordeaux. A highly disciplined ex-military operative, Hidoko is unwavering in her loyalty to Mosley — and, at first, a bit of a mystery to the rest of the team. “It takes the guys time to break through that military bearing,” says Gemmill.
Long, best known for roles in Boyz n the Hood, The Best Man, and most recently, Empire, brings gravitas and charisma to the part. Meanwhile, Bordeaux’s impressive TV résumé includes guest spots on Criminal Minds and Bones.
Get ready for a season full of shifting dynamics and fresh tension. NCIS: Los Angeles returns for its explosive ninth season on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS — and Mosley’s arrival marks a whole new chapter for the elite undercover team.
