It might seem like it’s been forever, but Season 6 of Virgin River came out just a few months ago in December. Since then, the cast and crew of the beloved Netflix drama have been hard at work to deliver a worthy follow-up to what we saw play out after things came to a head in the Season 6 finale. As of right now, the streamer hasn’t revealed a release date or even a window for when audiences can expect to catch up with their favorite characters in Season 7, but luckily, series star, Alexandra Breckenridge, stepped up to the plate.
“I feel like I’m on day 857 of filming Season 7… We’re almost done! Can you believe it? I can’t even believe it. Almost to the finish line.”
While the actress, who plays Mel Sheridan, looks incredibly put together, it’s obvious from her tone and demeanor that she’s ready for a long vacation once the cameras go down. Having a bit of fun and giving the rumor pot a good stir, she added,
“I keep wondering if they’re going to put the show out this year. What do you guys think? Probably, right? I mean, if they have it, they’ll probably drop it… this year, 2025. I don’t know any information. I’m the last to know.”
‘Virgin River’ Season 7 Will Feature Some Fresh Faces
In addition to Breckenridge’s Mel and the other staples of Virgin River, the new season will see some newbies ride into town. Sara Canning (Vampire Diaries) and Cody Kearsley (Riverdale) will add their talents to the cast. The former will appear as Victoria, an ex-police officer who traded in the street beat for a career at the state medical board after she was wounded on the job. Her presence in the titular California town will shake things up for Doc (Tim Matheson), whose medical license was suspended at the very end of Season 6. Kearsley will join the drama as Clay, a rough and tumble rodeo worker who is on the hunt for his younger sister, who he was separated from during their teenage years.
For reasons that are both selfish in nature and our hopes that Breckenridge and the rest of the cast and crew behind the series get some well-deserved rest, we hope to hear sooner than later that Season 7 filming is a wrap. Get caught up with the series now on Netflix.
