Ahsoka Disney+ series is only one of the several Star Wars projects that are set to debut exclusively on the streamer. Played by Rosario Dawson, the live-action incarnation of Ahsoka Tano debuted in the second season of The Mandalorian, and in December 2020, the spin-off show was officially announced, with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau serving as showrunners.
The show is currently in pre-production, and filming is expected to start next year. Rosario Dawson will reprise the titular role, and Hayden Christensen is returning as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, the role he will also portray in the upcoming Obi-Wan series, in which Ewan McGregor returns as the titular character. It was recently announced that Natasha Liu Bordizzo joined the cast as Sabine Wren.
Now, here’s what co-creator Dave Filoni had to say about the upcoming show:
“It’s thrilling, I gotta tell you. It’s something you imagine doing for a long time. And then it’s kind of startling when you’re sitting there, and now you have to do it.”
“I thought of this adventure for Ahsoka for a long time, and it’s interesting to see how it’s evolved. Years ago, I never would have imagined that it was sprung from a branch of a tree that had anything to do with a guy [like] Din Djarin, or a child that looks like Yoda. It’s a great lesson for me on how, when you have other creatives like Jon Favreau, they can help lend such dimension and depth to what you’re doing.”
Ahsoka Disney+ series still has no official premiere date, but considering that filming still hasn’t started, it will be a long wait.
