Fran Drescher made a dazzling entrance on the red carpet at the 2024 SAG Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday. Since 2021, “The Nanny” actress has served as the president of the SAG-AFTRA union, whose members determine the award show’s winners.
Drescher donned a sequined Reem Acra gown in one of this season’s hottest hues: red. Her frock also features a plunging neckline and a thigh-high slit overlaid with lace. Drescher accessorized with large ruby drop earrings and a gold choker by Kazanjian Jewels, completing her look with a bedazzled clutch and sharp pumps.
Stylist Brenda Cooper curated the actress’ sparkling ensemble. Cooper was also responsible for Drescher’s iconic wardrobe on “The Nanny.”
For the SAG Awards, hairdresser Jon Lieckfelt styled Drescher’s brunette tresses in voluminous waves, while makeup artist Gregory Alt gave her a bold red lip and rosy blush.
As SAG-AFTRA president, Drescher led the union through a historic strike in 2023. Work stoppages lasted nearly four months, marking the largest strike in SAG history as actors fought for wage increases and streaming residuals.
Drescher is the latest star to embrace the red trend. Rouge hues are poised for popularity this year after fiery shades took the runways of Valentino, Carolina Herrera and Emilia Wickstead by storm during the fall 2023 season. Stars like Selena Gomez, Florence Pugh and Kylie Jenner have brought the trend into 2024, incorporating red at events like the Golden Globes and Paris haute couture week.
Founded in 1995, the Screen Actors Guild Awards solicit votes from members of the SAG-AFTRA union, which includes over 119,000 performers across the film and television industry. At the 30th annual ceremony, Barbra Streisand will receive the Life Achievement Award.
