The Rookie Season 8 Must Elevate This Character After Their Show-Stopping Season 7 Fight Scene

Although everything that happens in The Rookie season 7 feels consequential, the series could truly mark itself apart from other procedurals by enhancing the role of one character whose fighting prowess already makes them a superstar. Since early on, The Rookie cast has been expanded with seemingly minor characters who have ways of popping back up. Although this only applies to two main villains when concerning The Rookie season 7 finale, other characters have earned their right to recur as well.

However, that’s not as easy to achieve as it sounds. John would likely have to approve of these characters’ presence, provided that wasn’t a job assigned to Bradford or Chen. Nonetheless, The Rookie season 8 could easily feature appearances by recognizable characters. And one particular recurring character in The Rookie has already proven they can assist in investigations. It just happens that the fight scene choreographed to prove that fact happened so fast that some viewers might not have completely absorbed it. Ironically, that’s what makes it one of the best fight scenes in the series to date.

The Rookie Season 7 Shows That Skip Tracer Randy Is An Extraordinary Fighter

He Dispatches Guards Before The Cops Even Arrive

It’s hardly one of the biggest unanswered questions of The Rookie season 7, but there are likely a few wayward fans wondering when Skip Tracer Randy Spitz might be seen again. Although he was initially a mere voice on the other end of a phone, Skip Tracer Randy appeared physically in The Rookie season 4 and has appeared once per season ever since. But it’s in The Rookie season 7 that his annual appearance establishes a rather incredible fact about the character.

As it turns out, Randy Spitz isn’t entirely the vapid space case that many would take him for at first impression. In season 7, episode 17, Randy reveals that he’s classified as a deadly weapon in four states and the territory of Guam. He then backs up this assertion by taking out the bad guys in quick succession before the cops can even finish pulling around from the corner of the building. He may seem like an imbecile for much of the episode, but his instincts apparently operate at a highly functional level.

The Rookie Season 8 Could Redeem Randy’s Season 7 Shortcomings

He Can Be Truly Helpful Instead Of Playing The Fool

Considering how briefly the series existed, most viewers would be understood if they didn’t recognize that The Rookie: Feds’ Agent Garza was meant to be a special cameo. For the most part, however, The Rookie doesn’t typically trade in fan service without any explanation whatsoever. And that tendency hints at why Skip Tracer Randy’s appearance in The Rookie season 7 is so important. But, now that we know he can aid an investigation, the obstacles he creates become somewhat irritating.

Throughout most of his season 7 episode, Randy gets in Nolan’s way. He pays a ransom when instructed not to, he calls vigilante assassins onto the scene, and he distracts half the precinct by promising them gourmet food that we never see them get to eat. Randy has always been somewhat of a walking legal disaster to himself and those around him, but season 7 makes it seem like he’d be a decorated officer if he joined the force and learned how to shut his mouth occasionally. After the trouble he’s caused, that needs to be his next story arc.

How The Rookie Season 8 Could Expand Randy Spitz’s Role In The Show

One Special Episode Is All That It Takes

After the way season 7 ended, a number of fans are probably more invested in The Rookie’s Chenford relationship. Chen and Bradford make a ton of sense together, and his heartfelt declaration to an apparently slumbering woman was hard to parse for those who expected real progress in the relationship. Nevertheless, Skip Tracer Randy begins a potentially romantic relationship in The Rookie season 7 that deserves to be paid off in full. It may seem like he’ll probably have to pay money to secure that relationship, but he also seems more than willing.

Skip Tracer Randy is an odd character, and it makes a certain amount of sense to relegate him to the background. But after he nearly ruined an investigation in season 7, it would be fantastic to see him play an important role in an investigation in The Rookie season 8. He’s still a lethal weapon, and he still has the ability to convince others that he can fight when he doesn’t feel like it. Either way, it would definitely make up for him calling the kidnappers in his last episode and scaring them to the point that they became dangerous.
