What is ‘Rules for Fake Girlfriends’ about?
Avery Blackwell was supposed to attend Columbia in the fall but after the tragic passing of her mother, she abandons her plans to attend her English alma mater. As a romantic at heart, Avery makes a rom-com-esque deal with local girl Charlie while on the train to her new life. The deal in question: Avery pretends to be Charlie’s girlfriend to make her ex jealous and Charlie will help her solve the scavenger hunt left behind by her mother from years prior.
Throughout their journey, pretending to be Charlie’s girlfriend feels less like pretending and a lot more like real life. But things start to get complicated when secrets rear their head and Avery must decide whether love is worth it.
