10 seasons of “Grey’s Anatomy” are not enough – Jessica Capshaw is ready to conquer the wheel of fortune

Celebrity Wheel of Fortune will welcome a familiar face to the small screen audience – Jessica Capshaw, the actress who played Dr. Arizona Robbins on the popular medical series Grey’s Anatomy. In the May 28 episode, Capshaw will join Dulcé Sloan (The Daily Show) and comedian Pete Holmes (Crashing) in a lucky spin to compete to raise money for the charities they represent.

Jessica Capshaw was one of the most beloved faces on Grey’s Anatomy, when she appeared as pediatric surgeon Arizona Robbins from seasons 5 to 14. With her calm demeanor, solid expertise, and deep emotional lines, Capshaw’s character left a strong impression on fans. She shared on the show that she has been attached to the series for more than a decade – “ten and a half seasons” to be exact. She also revealed that she returned to the show last year for a special episode, reuniting with her former co-stars – an occasion she described as “absolutely amazing and emotional”.

The show was hosted by Pat Sajak – the legendary host of Wheel of Fortune, who is now only appearing on the celebrity version after officially leaving the original show in the summer of 2024. During the Q&A, Sajak couldn’t hide her delight when recalling Capshaw’s Grey’s Anatomy character’s name – “Arizona Robbins” – calling it “one of the best TV character names ever”. Their conversation was intimate, with plenty of laughter as Sajak humorously compared their journeys away from and back to television.

Capshaw also took the time to share a personal, emotional memory: the childhood evenings she spent watching Wheel of Fortune with her grandmother. For her, participating in the show was not only a chance to have fun and reconnect with television, but also a moment of great emotional value.

In this episode, Capshaw competes to raise funds for the charity Baby2Baby, an organization that supports children living in difficult circumstances by providing basic necessities such as diapers, clothes, and food. Joining her, Dulcé Sloan will represent the She Ready Foundation, while Pete Holmes competes to support Homeboy Industries, an organization that helps reintegrate ex-offenders or those at risk of falling into crime.

Capshaw’s appearance on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune also marks a stepping stone for her upcoming projects, most notably a role in ABC’s new 9-1-1 series, 9-1-1: Nashville. This is a spin-off that promises to continue the success of 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star, with a new setting, new characters, but still carrying the humane elements, action and emotion that have made the series famous.

The episode airing on May 28 promises to bring moments of light entertainment, full of laughter and also no shortage of emotion, when the three artists use their intelligence, luck and volunteer spirit to compete for meaningful humanitarian goals. The audience will have the opportunity to witness a new side of Jessica Capshaw – both charming, intelligent and passionate about the community – in a classic TV show that she grew up with.
