General Hospital Nurses Ball Day 4 Recap: Big Reveal and Fan-Favorite Returns!

The fourth episode of General Hospital’s Nurses Ball was another hour packed full of drama! So far, the shows showcasing the annual gala fundraiser for HIV and AIDS research featured the red-carpet arrivals and an arrest on the first day, some major confrontations and musical performances on the second, and a life-changing secret revealed on the third. The latest installment saw the truth about Gio’s parentage ripple through Port Charles and a surprise return!

Questions, But No Answers

After admonishing the crowd for not being enthusiastic enough, Lucy introduced Police Commissioner Anna Devane and Detective Harrison Chase dancing the tango, accompanied by Gio on the violin. But after beginning the first few chords, the musician suddenly stopped, a pained expression taking over his face. Looking out at the audience, Gio composed himself before stepping up to the microphone and sharing that he was going to do something he’d never done before. “I’m going to dedicate this performance to my parents. Brook Lynn Quartermaine and Dante Falconeri. Two people who didn’t want me. Who didn’t claim me. They gave me away and have been lying to me my entire life!” Smashing his violin on the ground, a devastated Gio ran off the stage.

As Dante stared at Brook Lynn in shock, Emma ran out after Gio, as did Lois. Flustered, Lucy returned to the stage, awkwardly insisting that the show would go on. Sonny, Olivia, and Ned exited the room and Cody pulled Dante outside to talk. Out in the hallway, Olivia, Ned, and Sonny were all confused by the news that they suddenly have a grown grandson. When Chase approached, Olivia demanded answers. Although he tried to deflect that it was not his story to tell, Chase reluctantly told the trio that his wife had given birth to a child when she was in high school. When Ned suggested that Gio himself had seemed surprised that he was Dante and Brook Lynn’s son, Sonny guessed that Lois had likely known the truth all along.

Backstage in the dressing room, Dante demanded that Cody spill what he knew, but the only thing his childhood friend was sure of was that Brook Lynn had a baby and Dante was the father. Dante got another shock when Cody revealed that he had known Brook Lynn was pregnant that summer they were all at camp together, because he’d given her a ride to the bus stop when she left. Bewildered, Dante admitted that his brain was short-circuiting, unable to process that the kid he watched grow up in Bensonhurst was actually his son.

Meanwhile, in the restroom, Carly asked her cousin if she ended up telling Gio about his birth parents after all, but Lulu surmised that he must have overheard her when she confronted Lois in the dressing room. Freaking out, Lulu’s instinct was to run after Dante, but Carly again reminded her that it wasn’t her place to fill Dante in on the details — that was up to Brook Lynn and Lois. “You’re the one who set this train in motion,” Carly warned her, “and you need to get off the track before you get leveled.”

Back in the hallway, a hurt Olivia couldn’t believe that her best friend never told her that they shared a grandchild. Dante then approached, stopping to ask if any of them had known the truth about the baby before storming out of the Metro Court in search of Brook Lynn. Wanting to support his wife, Chase began to follow Dante out. However, Sonny stopped him from leaving, insisting to them all that they needed to let Dante and Brook Lynn hash things out on their own. Once Sonny and Olivia returned to the ballroom, Ned admitted to his son-in-law that he was grateful Brook Lynn had confided in Chase but was hurt that his daughter felt like she couldn’t come to him about her pregnancy.

Catch And Release

Jason’s arrival at the police station to see Tracy caused Mac to admit that he was actually glad to see him “for the first time in maybe, ever,” before sending him in to see the prisoner. Jason reassured his aunt that he would post her bail as soon as Diane got off the phone with the judge, but an indignant Tracy insisted that the charges against her should be dropped because she had been framed “by that wretched brother of yours.” Jason reminded her that it probably wasn’t such a good idea to team up with Drew to begin with, given everything that’s happened between the congressman and the family. Luckily for Tracy, the judge dropped the charges, but she ran into another problem when Jason got a mysterious phone call and couldn’t take her home, stranding her at the police station.

Pointing Fingers

Elsewhere in the Metro Court, Trina and Josslyn were discussing the bombshell their friend Gio dropped on the stage. Trina shared that she could relate to how he must be feeling, having only found out a few years ago that Curtis, not Taggert, was her biological father. After agreeing to be a safe space for their friend, they were informed by a frazzled Lucy that they had to perform sooner than they were supposed to and needed to change ASAP. The besties then hit the stage to sing a duet about friendship, earning a standing ovation. Afterward, Trina was greeted backstage by her parents (who hid their argument from her before leaving the ball) and Kai, who presented his girlfriend with a lovely bouquet.Carly also congratulated Josslyn on a job well done before Drew and Willow approached, wanting to work out a compromise on the custody arrangement before the hearing date. Willow and Drew’s offer to let Michael have visitation every other weekend didn’t sit too well with Carly, who informed the couple that she’d see them in court. Upset, Willow walked away, and a smug Drew tossed back at Carly that when she loses Michael custody of his kids, he’ll only have her to blame.

Champagne Dreams

Her broken leg prevented Elizabeth from attending the event in person, so G.H.’s head nurse opted to watch the festivities from the comfort of her couch with a cup of tea. Lucas surprised his longtime friend by showing up at her house after he got off his shift at the hospital. Dressed in a tux and producing a tiara for Liz, he popped open a bottle of champagne so they could watch the Nurses Ball on TV together. Taking a walk down Memory Lane, the two recalled a previous Nurses Balls when Brad proposed to Lucas, and Ric proposed to Elizabeth, before toasting their friendship. When Lucas grew a bit melancholy about not being there to see Wiley perform the finale with the other kids, Liz gave him permission to gush all he wanted about the boy he once called his own and then filled him in on what he’d missed (Tracy’s arrest and a new Quartermaine) during his drive over.
