As it turns out, Josephine likes to keep her private life, well, private.
“My brain has so many qualities that do not work with social media. I’m an overthinker, I’m overly private, and those two personality traits just do not work when it comes to Instagram,” she told Refinery29 in April 2019. “No one I know [in real life] has ever asked me why I follow this person or why I don’t follow this person, because everyone knows it has absolutely no correlation to people who are important in my life. I don’t even check my [Instagram] feed. It’s meaningless, is what I’m trying to say.”

“It’s a bit of a dilemma, being an actor. I know that,” Josephine told Cosmopolitan in April 2021 of her private life. “But otherwise, I’m a relatively private person. I feel like when you get into this industry, it’s so important to have your boundaries. That’s just something I’m trying to do at the moment. Maintain boundaries.”
During the same interview, the actress noted that fans will “ship anything,” noting one specific example.
“A lot of my friends are getting DMs [from fans], and one of them got a message like, ‘Do you know Jo?’ And he very jokingly said that we were engaged, because he thought it would be hilarious,” she recalled at the time. “And then, everyone started to think that we were.”

Besides the fact that their characters had tons of chemistry in the movie, the two stars seem to get along great in real life too. They’ve walked numerous red carpets together and have done tons of interviews side by side, so it’s only natural that fans have started to wonder if they’re more than friends. But when chatting with Entertainment Tonight in October 2020, Hero called the pair “good friends” putting an end to relationship rumors once and for all!
Hero, for his part, told J-14 exclusively that he “understands” the Josephine dating rumors.
“It’s interesting because part of me says, ‘I get it,’ but part of me says — when you speak to some fans who completely understand from my point of view, they validate why some people’s assumptions are a little bit, maybe immature and jumping the gun. But then again, I get it. I get why you’d see people in a film and, kind of, want them to be together,” he explained. “When people are young, they care so much. It’s good that they care. … I understand it, is probably the best way to put it.”
It turns out, the star is actually pretty private when it comes to her love life, and she hasn’t publicly been linked to anyone else!
“My view on relationships right now — and it changes — is that it should be easy,” she told StyleCaster in October 2020. “[After characters Hardin and Tessa] have a very difficult relationship and a very challenging relationship. It’s not the ideal relationship. That’s not what the story is. That’s actually what the whole story is about. For me, personally, I think it should be easy. It should be simple. It’s important to know that [their relationship] is not the norm. In real life and not in fiction, if you’re in that situation, you have to be very aware of what’s going on.”
