The latest seasons of Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med all came to a close on May 21, when the franchise aired its finales on NBC.
This year, the three Chicago shows hit dramatic new heights when they were part of a special one-night, three-hour crossover. Leading up to the milestone event, Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman told The Hollywood Reporter, “It feels like a movie in a way that we haven’t had before. How cinematic — the look of it is gorgeous, and it’s a very emotional piece.”
Another big development for the One Chicago universe was the addition of Dermot Mulroney, who joined the Chicago Fire cast as Chief Dom Pascal.
The finales of One Chicago continued to deal with the major personal events for its characters, like Hannah (Jessy Schram) processing her surprise pregnancy on Chicago Med, the wedding of Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick Flueger) on Chicago P.D. and the future of Pascal, after he was arrested for the attempted murder of the man who killed his wife.

When Chicago Fire returns for season 14, at least two members will be missing from the Firehouse 51 team.
In April 2025, Deadline reported that cast members Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett would no longer be series regulars, reportedly due to “an effort to trim the budget” of the production.

In a May 2025 interview with TV Insider, Newman revealed there they haven’t started the writers room for season 14 yet, but “we love these actors, we love these characters, and we’d love to play with them more and give them big exits and maybe have them around more than you expect for at least part of the season.”
“But we’ll see if we get them. There are lots of stories still to play and to put endings on, so we’ll look forward to doing that,” she added.
As for the casts of Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med, there’s no word about anticipated exits.
