But ahead of the season 7 finale airing in May, we first have to see what else The Rookie has in store for us. And while there will be a new episode airing tonight, April 29, 2025 on ABC, folks will want to pay attention to a slight switch-up the network made for a surprise reason.
What time does The Rookie air tonight?
While The Rookie normally airs Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET on ABC, fans should be aware the April 29 episode will air an hour later than usual. Meaning: the newest episode of The Rookie will air on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
Why is The Rookie airing at a new time tonight?
As for the reason behind this episode change for The Rookie, there’s a good explanation.
In an announcement made by Deadline on April 28, ABC News revealed that the network will speak with President Donald Trump about his first 100 days in his second term of presidency.
The one-hour primetime special (titled President Trump the First 100 Days: The Interview in the Oval Office) will air live from the White House on April 29, 2025 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, and viewers can also watch it on ABC News Live, Hulu and Disney+ later in the evening.
But The Rookie isn’t the only ABC series that’ll be affected by the political newscast. The outlet also noted the network’s other drama Will Trent (which normally airs new episodes on Tuesdays) will also be affected, moving into The Rookie‘s normal 9 p.m. ET slot to accommodate the switch-up in scheduling.
