The Dark Side of Jamie Dornan’s Glamorous Modeling Career

Jamie Dornan has admitted that he “hated” getting his photograph taken back when he was a model.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star used to earn up to £10,000 (€11,500) a day working with luxury brands like Calvin Klein, Armani, and Dior.

But speaking to Radio Times recently, he admitted that he wasn’t a fan of the job, adding that “to this day” he still hates getting his photo taken.

“I hate having my photograph taken. I spent ten years getting paid to have people take photographs of me. If you allow yourself to get into the ‘why?’ of that, you’re f***ed. Just accept it.

“For whatever reason, they want to take your photograph. Go with it, have fun with it, enjoy the ride. Which is what I did, although I hated it in many ways.”

The Northern Irish actor previously revealed how he dropped out of Teesside University in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire and later applied for a reality TV series after returning home to Belfast.

“I’d been at university for a year and I used to play a lot of rugby at school and I was very sporty and I was playing rugby at uni and drinking a lot,” he told SiriusXM in 2021.

“I decided I was going to drop out of university cause it wasn’t the right space for me at the time.

“I was like, “F*** this, I’m going to do something else with my life”. But I didn’t have a plan and my dad was really worrying. “What’s your plan going to be?’”

Jamie’s sister then convinced him to audition for Channel 4’s Model Behaviour, a reality show with a winning prize of a contract with a modelling agency.

Jamie Dornan admits he 'hated' being a model where he earned up to £10k per DAY: 'I don't like having my photograph taken!' | Daily Mail Online

“No kid where I’m from grows up wanting to be a model, I’ll tell you that. So I was like, ‘No, I’m not doing it’.

“She said, ‘Just do it, do it’. Anyway, I convinced one of my mates to come with me who is like a relatively handsome dude. I was like, ‘You’re coming with me, I’m not doing it alone’.”

However, on the day of the audition, Jamie’s friend refused to get out of bed.

“I called him on the way there and I was like, ‘Dude I’m going to pick you up outside your house in 10 minutes’ and he goes, ‘Nah, I’m not going’.

“I was going ‘Mate you have to come, my sister’s going to kill me, Dad’s going to kill me if I don’t go.’

“Anyway, I convinced him to get out of bed and I went and he got kicked out early doors and I, like, did all right.

“I actually didn’t even do that well on the show, but it got me enough to sort of move to London. And that was it.

“I wouldn’t be sat here if he hadn’t got out of bed that day, I truly meant that.

“I would have worked out something else, I would have been a real estate agent, I honestly would have found something else to do.”
