The storyline of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor adds to the canon continuity of Star Wars because we all know that Cal Kestis’ journey affects the events of the greater storyline during the Imperial era. Of course, out of all of the Star Wars storylines we’ve seen, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series seems to have the most connections with the events of Jedi: Survivor. So, how does Star War Jedi: Survivor connect with Obi-Wan Kenobi?
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Obi-Wan Kenobi take place in the same year, 9 BBY. However, other connections, such as the Hidden Path, were talked about extensively in both stories. It is also possible that Darth Vader was nursing injuries he suffered in Jedi: Survivor.
When it comes to the current Star Wars canon, everything is interconnected as the people over at Lucasfilm make sure that any Star Wars storyline that is considered canon will not do anything to disrupt the storylines that have already been established. As such, that is why there are connections between Jedi: Survivor and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Now, let’s explore these connections further.
Same Year
While a good part of the Star Wars continuity focuses on the events that transpired before and after the Imperial era and during the Rebellion period, not a lot of events happened right during the time when the Empire was at the height of its power and before the Rebels had the guts to form up and oppose the Empire.
Cal Kestis’ storyline in the Star Wars Jedi video games took place when the Empire was at its height and when people were still afraid to oppose the Imperials occupying different systems all over the galaxy. Fallen Order took place on 14 BBY, just five years after Order 66. Meanwhile, Survivor takes place on 9 BBY, nine years before the events of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

We also know in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series that the titular character spent ten years on Tatooine doing the same thing daily while contemplating his failures in life. Although Kenobi didn’t oppose the Empire straight-up, he ended up in the Imperials’ crosshairs due to his mission to rescue Leia Organa. And because the series took place ten years after Order 66, both Jedi: Survivor and Obi-Wan Kenobi take place on 9 BBY.
Fortress Inquisitorius
Different Star Wars storylines tend to borrow different elements from one another. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order focused on Cal Kestis’ battle with the Inquisitors, particularly the Second Sister. When the Second Sister acquired a Jedi Holocron containing the location of all of the Force-sensitive individuals in the galaxy, Cal decided to infiltrate Fortress Inquisitorius, the base of the Inquisitors.

Of course, in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, the titular Jedi Master also went to the same place because he needed to infiltrate it. In that regard, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series borrowed the Fortress Inquisitorius idea from Jedi: Fallen Order. And the fact that Kenobi was the prime target of the Inquisitorius during the events of 9 BBY, having attracted the attention of the Grand Inquisitor, the Third Sister, and the Fifth Brother, could explain why it was only the Ninth Sister that went after Cal Kestis during the events of Jedi: Survivor.
The Hidden Path
During the height of the Empire’s powers and before the Rebels stepped in, the Inquisitors hunted down any surviving Jedi and even persecuted any person sensitive to the Force. As such, a lot of innocent people died. And even children that could use the Force were either killed or taken in by the Empire.
That was when a network started the Hidden Path, introduced in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. The Hidden Path was a network that allowed people from all over the galaxy to smuggle Force-sensitive people and their families away from the Empire. In the Kenobi series, we saw Obi-Wan helping the Hidden Path and the smuggled people escape Darth Vader and the Empire.
The Hidden Path was also mentioned in the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor events because the Anchorites that Cere Junda worked with on Jedha were also part of the Hidden Path that smuggled refugees in and out of different places. In fact, a safe house on Jedha served as one of the places that the Hidden Path used to hide refugees. The fact is that most of the refugees had to spend time running away from the Empire by moving from one planet to another with the help of the Hidden Path.
Cal Kestis, however, realized that enough was enough and that the refugees of the Hidden Path needed a permanent place that could serve as their home. That was when he decided to use Tanalorr, an untouched planet that was difficult to reach using conventional methods, as the place where he and the Hidden Path could build a home for the refugees just trying to escape the Empire. And it is possible that the Hidden Path in Obi-Wan Kenobi actually tried to smuggle the refugees to safety before they could get to Tanalorr.
Darth Vader’s Injuries
During the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader was first seen in a Bacta tank, often used by people trying to recuperate from injuries. Bacta tanks also allowed those with permanent injuries, such as Boba Fett, to get some relief from the pain of their wounds. But while we do know that someone like Vader, who got burnt to a crisp on Mustafar in his first battle with Obi-Wan Kenobi, can benefit a lot from a Bacta tank, there’s a good chance that he was actually trying to recover from new injuries.
Star Wars: What if Obi-Wan Killed Anakin?
That’s because Darth Vader appeared in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor events when the Empire attacked Jedha to destroy the Jedi archive that Cere Junda was rebuilding there. To protect the Anchorites and her friends, Cere confronted Vader and fought her to the death.

In what was a show of her power as a Jedi Master, Cere Junda nearly defeated Darth Vader and only lost at the last possible second when the Sith Lord beat her to the punch with a lightsaber thrust out of nowhere. But while Cere died in that encounter, it was clear that Darth Vader was losing the battle before he could flip the table at the end of the duel.
Darth Vader was burned in that fight and was seen limping away from the battle, as he clearly faced a serious opponent that nearly defeated him. That means that it is possible that he was in the Bacta tank in Obi-Wan Kenobi because he was recovering from the injuries that he suffered from Cere Junda. And this opens up the possibility that the events of Kenobi happen right after the events of Jedi: Survivor.
