‘Blue Bloods’ star Donnie Wahlberg paid tribute to Tom Selleck in the sweetest way on Instagram

A happy belated birthday to Tom Selleck!

Magnum, P.I. The actor celebrated his 77th birthday on Saturday, January 29, and along with many fans, Donnie Wahlberg was quick to wish him a happy day.

“Happy birthday to my TV dad and real-life friend and father, Tom Selleck,” he captioned a carousel of photos on Instagram. “So grateful to have ‘daddy’ in my life and so blessed to have a small supporting role in the amazing legacy that is your life! Love Dad! Always, Son”

And, just like on the show, Donnie was quick to add a little sass as he paid tribute to his dad.

“PS, I know you won’t see this because you probably don’t know what @instagram is, but it’s okay because I don’t mind sharing with the world that you mean a lot to me,” he wrote in parentheses to conclude his post.

When they first started, Donnie (Danny Reagan) and Tom (Frank Reagan) worked together on the set of Blue Bloods for over 10 years. In fact, they, along with the rest of the Blue Bloods cast, just celebrated their 250th episode, a milestone that many shows only hope to reach and one that fans are wholeheartedly grateful for.

“Two of my favorites from [the 80s] came together later in life and are still going strong, better than ever! Happy birthday Tom,” a fan commented under Donnie’s post.

“This cast is perfect for each other. You all are the best group on television,” another fan exclaimed.

“Happy birthday Tom. Love watching [the two] of you play father and son,” another wrote.

There are many, many more birthdays to come — and on-screen moments between the two!
