Ghosts Season 4 Ending Explained: How Sam Missed Elias’ Evil Scheme

Although the Ghosts season 4’s finale big Jay twist was unexpected, this was at least partially due to the fact that Sam should have known about Elias’s plan long before he pulled it off. The ghosts of CBS’s Ghosts ask a lot of Sam and Jay, and they aren’t always particularly appreciative of the efforts of their human cohabitants. As Jay noted in season 4, episode 22, “The Devil Went Down to Woodstone,” the couple has spent a lot of money making life easier for the ghosts over the years and have seen little in return.

In fairness, Isaac’s book fares well in the Ghosts season 4 finale and this could go some way to repaying the debt that the ghosts collectively owe the couple. However, since Sam and Jay were considering hiring Ghosts season 4 guest star Kyle as an assistant, the ghosts are likely to have run up a pretty major debt. Trevor does have a job, but the events of “The Devil Went Down to Woodstone” prove that the ghosts don’t really prioritize helping out the Woodstone Mansion’s human inhabitants, even outside of financial matters.
