‘Very Different’ FBI Finale Leaves You With a ‘Lovely Cliffhanger,’ Zeeko Zaki Warns

It’s been a minute since CBS‘ FBI has left its viewers with a season-ending cliffhanger.

Well, that minute will soon be up.

In the Season 7 finale — titled “A New Day” and airing Tuesday, May 20 — after Jubal (played by Jeremy Sisto) narrowly escapes a calculated assault on a secret FBI office, the team discovers a rogue terrorist group has infiltrated the FBI. Unsure of who to trust, the team must work in the shadows to unmask the culprits threatening the sanctity of the New York field office.

A terrorist group infiltrating the FBI? An unmasking of culprits? That alone sounds intense enough, but to hear cast member Zeeko Zaki tell it, “A New Day” won’t wrap up the season in a tidy bow.

Speaking with TVLine West Coast Bureau Chief Dave Nemetz at this week’s CBS Fest ’25 event celebrating the release of the network’s schedule for the 2025-26 TV season, Zaki worked the handheld (no silly “tiny mic” here!) like a seasoned red carpet host while promising “a really lovely cliffhanger coming up at the end of the season.”

Leading up to said cliffie, OA’s portrayer says in the video above, is “a very different episode” that drops Jubal’s team into “a scenario that I really don’t think anyone could have ever seen coming.” That, coupled with the cliffhanger, adds up to “a very exciting finale,” Zaki says.

While we had Zaki in our sights, we also invited him to offer an update on the OA/Gemma relationship, as well as share his expectations for the well-watched franchise’s latest spinoff “expansion,” currently titled CIA and starring Lucifer himself, Tom Ellis.
