The third season of NBC’s Night Court ended with a very unanticipated reveal, and at the same time, debuted Melissa Rauch’s former Big Bang Theory husband. The finale aired on NBC on Tuesday, May 6, as a one-hour event with Part 1 featuring guest stars Michael Urie and original Night Court star Marsha Warfield. Part 2, on the other hand, saw Simon Helberg appear once again as Rauch’s onscreen spouse, marking the first TV reunion between the duo since their stint on Big Bang.
Given how things concluded in the Night Court Season 3 finale, fans should expect Helberg’s return in future episodes if the show is renewed. But while that remains to be seen, Rauch recently discussed the finale with TV Insider, including what it was like working with her former Big Bang Theory co-star. The actress only had the best words for Helberg, describing his presence on set as “so incredibly special” before adding:
“We’re, of course, very close, and he’s family to me, so we’re very much in touch, but we hadn’t been on set together since Big Bang Theory ended, and to be back at Warner Brothers together on that stage, it was emotional. I was very excited that he was there, but there was also just this feeling of like, ‘Oh, wow, we’re getting to do this again and getting to be together.’ And he’s such an intuitive, right-there-in-the-moment-with-you actor, and it just felt like going home, getting to work with him again.”

Helberg Was “Such A Dream” in The ‘Night Court’ Season 3 Finale
In the final moments of the Night Court Season 3 finale, fans saw Abby (Rauch) almost get engaged to on-again, off-again boyfriend Jake (Ryan Hansen), but her husband Spencer (Helberg) showed up out of the blue. He also proved their marital connection by flashing his wedding ring, while Abby didn’t contradict him. Getting to perform the scene with Helberg was “such a dream” for Rauch, who further admitted that she had always wanted to include him on the show since it started. In the True Blood alum’s words:
“Since the show started, I’ve wanted to bring him onto the show, but I wanted to make sure that it was the perfect role for him. And then once we cracked what we wanted to do for the season finale, it was just the dream to have Simon in this. I called him, and he was so wonderful and was like, ‘I’m totally there.’ And he was just wonderful, as he always is. It was very much like, OK, once we knew what the storyline was, the melding of [Spencer] with Simon was just the perfect synchronization.”
