Gerry Turner is taking fans along on another new adventure, this time in print.
After letting fans in on his journey to find love on the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor in 2023, the reality television star is turning to the page for an even more unfiltered look at his life. His upcoming memoir, Golden Years: What I’ve Learned from Love, Loss, and Reality TV hits stands this fall and PEOPLE has the exclusive reveal of its cover, which features a portrait of Turner.
“In Golden Years, Gerry chronicles his grief after Toni’s death, his unbelievable experiences on The Golden Bachelor, and the life-altering lessons he took away from both,” an official synopsis explains.
As Bachelor nation members may recall, Turner was pushed to audition for The Golden Bachelor by his two daughters after their mother, Turner’s late wife Toni, died.
During the series finale that aired in November 2023, Turner got engaged to Theresa Nist. While the two would go on to get married during a live televised ceremony in January 2024, they announced their decision to divorce during a joint interview on Good Morning America, which aired on April 12, 2024. Turner officially filed for divorce that same day.
While Turner is now dating a retired teacher from Indiana named Lana, he’s also endured struggles other than heartbreak.
In December 2024, Turner revealed to PEOPLE that he was diagnosed with a slow-growing bone marrow cancer called Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia. The disease was discovered after he visited an orthopedic surgeon for a recurring shoulder injury.
In his new book, Turner will offer an unfiltered look at all aspects of his life — beyond what the cameras captured on the show.
“I am more than what people saw on reality TV, and now everyone can get a glimpse of my life and finally see the unedited story of the Golden Bachelor,” Turner says, in an exclusive statement shared with PEOPLE.
“Rich with behind-the-scenes insights into filming the show and hard-won rules he lived by when putting himself back into the dating world, Golden Years tells Gerry Turner’s complete story for the first time,” the synopsis teases.
