From Table Reads to Shocking Revelations: Skye P. Marshall Talks Olympia’s Explosive Future in ‘Matlock’

Matlock is a reboot of the hit series from 1986. The new CBS series stars Kathy Bates as a septuagenarian named Madeline “Matty” Matlock and the end of Season 1 of the series had Matty being evaluated by one of her closest friends. Olympia (Skye P. Marshall) had opened a case to investigate Madeline and the shocking reveal was in the penultimate episode. But the two worked together in the finale and we still have a lot to unpack in Olympia and Matty’s relationship, even after the finale. Marshall though was talking to PEOPLE when she shared who fans have reacted to Olympia’s Season 1 arc.

“I get snatched on the street, like, ‘Sis, I was praying it wasn’t you. I’m so happy it wasn’t you. But what are you going to do?’ ” Marshall said. “And I’m like, ‘I can’t tell you. I don’t even know.’ We’re all impatiently waiting for the first script of season two.” Marshall joked in the interview that she was going to put an airtag on the cars of the writers so she’d know when they’re back in the writer’s room.

But Marshall did go on to talk about Olympia’s motivations and what she could potentially do in Season 2. “I think that Olympia is for the people. And I think that — I believe that — Olympia is going to do what’s right. But it’s not going to go down easily. She’s about to bring hell in Jacobson Moore. Oh yeah. And I cannot wait.”

Skye P. Marshall Reveals Who Made Her Cry at the Table Read

There are a lot of characters that fans love in Matlock. One is Leah Lewis’ character Sarah and Marshall told PEOPLE that it was Lewis who made her cry during the table read for the finale. She shared that when she did her opening remarks, she was just so happy that Lewis finally got to have Sarah’s courtroom moment. “And so for it to be the finale, we were just so thrilled for her, so when she … She was asking me for feedback and notes on how to work the jury, and so when she started reading it, she looked at me and … but I was so overwhelmed with joy and I was just so happy for her.”
