Rosalie Hale’s powers in the Twilight universe are unlike those of her siblings, and here’s what they are and why they are different.
Every vampire in the Twilight universe has unique powers, and while some come in handy when fighting against other creatures or even to survive every day, there are others who seem useless, as is the case with Rosalie’s powers. Vampires have gone through many interpretations depending on the artist, and one that fans of these creatures will never forget is that by Stephenie Meyer in her Twilight book series. The novels followed the often problematic romance between mortal Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen, who came across a variety of obstacles throughout their relationship.
The Twilight series became a worldwide phenomenon, and as it happens with most successful books, the story of Bella and Edward was soon adapted to the big screen. The Twilight Saga was released between 2008 and 2012, with the fourth novel, Breaking Dawn, divided into two movies, and it expanded the books’ fanbase, turning the Twilight universe into a big media hit. However, in order to fit the format, many events and details about the characters were left aside, leaving many questions for those not familiar with the novels, mostly doubts about the vampires’ powers – and out of the Cullen coven, there are a lot of questions about Rosalie.
Rosalie Hale (played by Nikki Reed) is one of the adopted “children” of Carlisle and Esme Cullen and the partner of Emmett Cullen (Kellan Lutz). At the beginning of the Twilight series, she didn’t like Bella at all, but by the end of it, they became very close. Now, while the rest of her siblings displayed their powers during their many battles, Rosalie didn’t seem to show any, but that doesn’t mean she’s powerless – it’s just that her powers are different.
What Rosalie’s Powers Are In Twilight
In the Twilight universe, when a human is transformed, their strongest trait is heightened, which in some cases results in supernatural powers. Some vampires have passive abilities, which don’t exactly count as supernatural, but they are still their strongest characteristic. Rosalie falls into this category as her power is beauty: she was “angelically beautiful” as a human, and her transformation enhanced her beauty, making her many times more beautiful than most vampires, to the point where she’s labeled as the “most beautiful person in the world”. Rosalie’s musical talent was also enhanced as was her mechanical talent.
Why Do Only Some Cullens Have True Special Abilities
As mentioned above, the powers of the vampires in the Twilight universe are divided into two categories: active and passive, the former being those categorized as supernatural. For example, Edward’s strongest power is telepathy, as when he was a human he had an ability to “read people”, and Jasper’s is pathokinesis (manipulation of the emotions of those around him), this as a result of his charisma when he was a human. In Rosalie, Carlisle, and Esme’s cases, they fall into the “passive” category as their strongest human trait didn’t develop as a supernatural power, instead granting them beauty, compassion, and passionate love, respectively. The combination of active and passive talents in the Cullen coven is what makes them a strong team and family in Twilight, and they are all important members of it no matter what their powers are.
