NCIS: Origins finishes its first season run next week on Monday, April 28, at 10 p.m. ET on CBS. The season finale circles back to the Pedro Hernandez case as questions arise, and someone is sent to seek answers. “When the murder of Pedro Hernandez is unearthed, Gibbs (Austin Stowell) faces a reckoning. But when he needs his team most, the loyalty of one is brought into question,” reads the logline for NCIS: Origins Season 1, Episode 18, “Cecilia.” Something had been simmering between Gibbs and Lala (Mariel Molino), but her interest shifted after she discovered what he’d done. Or did it? TV Line has unveiled some images from the finale, which show Gibbs and Lala getting cozy with each other. Meanwhile, Gibbs gets a visitor.
In NCIS: Origins, Gibbs tells the story of his early days in NIS under Mike Franks’ (Kyle Schmid) team. But more specifically, he tells a story about someone he’d never spoken about before: Cecilia “Lala” Dominguez. She greatly impacted his life after he left the Navy, but no one knows how. Was it romantic or something else? The images below tease both scenarios, and Gibbs and Lala cozy up in a swimming pool. Lala stares into his face with apprehension as if they are about to share a kiss. Has she moved on from her feelings about the Pedro Hernandez case? Has she decided to forgive Gibbs? Well, they might not have moved on as much as they would have thought because someone is sent to investigate the case.
Claire Berger appears in the season finale as Military Police Investigator Lara Macy. She is laser-focused on solving this mystery because it could be her ticket to a higher position in the agency. Macy is “an ambitious investigator with sharp instincts and a relentless drive for justice. She is hoping to advance her career and isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo, especially in a male-dominated world.” She is seen with Lala in an image below, but it’s unclear what’s happening. Will she use the opportunity to squeeze the truth out of Lala? Will Lala protect Gibbs?
The ‘NCIS: Origins’ Finale Fills In a Gap from The Season Premiere
Gibbs said in the premiere episode that this story was about Lala, yet he did not reveal its meaning. This question has been lingering throughout the season, and the finale will answer why everything is about “her.” Despite having been explored in the mothership series, everything was not revealed in NCIS, and the prequel will offer some more information to paint a better picture of what happened. Watch “Cecilia” when the episode airs next week.
