There are several things that FBI: International needs to address before the procedural comes to its end. FBI: International is arguably the best FBI show because of its unique premise — as the title implies, it addresses crimes overseas that affect the United States rather than being set in New York like the other FBI shows. Unfortunately, that premise wasn’t enough to get CBS to greenlight another season, and FBI: International will end in May 2025.
The spinoff’s cancellation has led to widespread speculation about how FBI: International will end. FBI: International season 4 introduced new team leader Wes Mitchell (Jesse Lee Soffer), and he may return to the States as the series wraps up. Several other storylines will need to be wrapped up in the little time the procedural has remaining for the ending to be satisfying.

Resolve Tate and Mitchell’s Relationship One Way Or The Other
The Two Began Expressing Interest In Each Other Late In The Season
Throughout most of Mitchell’s run, it seemed likely that he and Cameron Vo (Vinessa Vidotto) would end up in a romantic relationship, but FBI: International threw a curveball by developing a relationship between Mitchell and Tate (Christina Wolfe) instead. In some ways, this new relationship is more realistic because Mitchell doesn’t have a past with Tate.
That said, FBI: International has very little time left to resolve this relationship, and so far, there hasn’t been much movement. Since the series is not coming back for FBI: International season 5, there is no time for extended ambivalence; Mitchell and Tate need to either wrap up the series as a couple or decide that they are better off as friends and colleagues.

Scott Forrester Returns For A Proper Farewell
The Team Never Got Any Closure When He Left
Forrester’s (Luke Kleintank) departure was one of the most disappointing exits in the FBI universe. Although he had been the steadfast, level-headed team leader for three years, Forrester simply vanished toward the end of season 3, and when the team investigated, they learned he was helping his fugitive mother escape to safety. This shocking revelation wasn’t met with much emotion — everyone simply moved on by the beginning of FBI: International season 4.
Now that the procedural is ending, it has one chance to fix this dismal exit story for Forrester. He could make a cameo appearance during the final episode to reassure the team that he is all right. This would take some of the sting out of the cancellation, especially if Tank is thrilled to see his original owner and expresses his joy as the series comes to a close.

Explain Smitty’s Future
She Could Return to Interpol Full-Time
Smitty (Eva-Jane Willis) is a Europol agent who is the Fly Team’s liaison with the organization. Thus, she has to use her contacts to secure cooperation from local law enforcement or heads of foreign governments. She is the second such liaison the team has had; in FBI: International season 1, Katrin Jaeger (Christiane Paul) filled that role.
Every Member of The Fly Team In FBI: International Season 4 | |
---|---|
Name | Actor |
Supervisory Special Agent Wes Mitchell | Jesse Lee Soffer |
Special Agent Cameron Vo | Vinessa Vidotto |
Special Agent Andre Raines | Carter Redwood |
Interpol Agent Megan “Smitty” Garretson | Eva-Jane Willis |
Analyst Amanda Tate | Christina Wolfe |
Special Agent Tyler Booth (recurring) | Jay Hayden |
Jaeger left when she was promoted to head of Europol, but Smitty has been loyal to the Fly Team for three years. Thus, it would be fitting for her to receive a promotion within Interpol or Europol as FBI: International wraps up. Regardless of whether she continues to work with the Fly Team, Smitty deserves a wrap-up that acknowledges her value and dedication to the work the team does.

Answer The Question Of Who Gets The GS-14 Position (And What Happens To The Other Agent)
This Arc Wraps Up Both Raines And Vo’s Stories
FBI: International has already begun one wrap-up story. Mitchell invited both Raines (Carter Redwood) and Vo to apply for a GS-14 position in another office. The GS-14 designation is a necessary promotion in rank for those who want to be in management; Vo told Mitchell in FBI: International season 4, episode 1 that she couldn’t lead the Fly Team herself because she didn’t have it yet.
It’s not clear yet which agent will get that coveted GS-14 position. Only one of them can be hired for the role, which will wrap up their story. The other agent will need some sort of wrap-up, whether that means trying for GS-14 again or being happy to return to the Fly Team.

Give Vo A Leadership Position (Even If Not With The Fly Team)
She Deserves The Promotion After Her Years of Service
Regardless of whether she gets the job she is applying for, Vo should be given a leadership position by the end of the series. She has been with the Fly Team since the first episode and has been Mitchell’s second-in-command, helping temper his impulsivity and discouraging certain behaviors that were counterproductive. She also has the passion for the job that a good leader needs.
Giving Vo the role of Fly Team Leader would be the best acknowledgment of her years of service…
For all these reasons, FBI: International needs to give Vo a GS-14 position by the end of the series. It doesn’t necessarily have to be with the Fly Team. However, giving Vo the role of Fly Team Leader would be the best acknowledgment of her years of service, and it would be the most satisfying way to wrap up her story.
