Wes Mitchell’s Very First Rogue Move With The Fly Team May Have Revealed How FBI: International Will End

With FBI: International coming to an end, eyes are on the way the story wraps for the Fly Team. Each individual member is sure to get their own closure, including the new Fly Team leader, Wes Mitchell (Jesse Lee Soffer). One thing I would love to see is for Cameron Vo (Vinessa Vidotto) to finally take over as the leader, but that would mean Mitchell needs to leave, and FBI: International season 4 may have already set up how that is possible.

Mitchell has rogue ways, and he showed them right off the bat as he joined the newest series in the FBI universe. His very first case saw others warn him about going rogue, and there have been threats to his career because of what he’s done to get the answers he needed during a case. There’s only so much people like Megan “Smitty” Garretson (Eva-Jane Willis) can do to protect him, leading to the suggestion that the ending won’t be positive for him.

Smitty Reprimands Mitchell For Going After Csonka Alone In FBI: International Season 4 Premiere
Mitchell Continues To Go Rogue To Solve A Case

Mitchell is not afraid to take matters into his own hands, especially when a case becomes personal. During his introduction in the FBI: International season 4 premiere, Mitchell took it upon himself to go after Csonka. He would rush off without consulting the team, refusing to work well with local authorities, risking the team working the case. Smitty reprimanded him for that, knowing local authorities prefer cooperation and to handle their own cases, and that is the point of the Europol agent.

In later cases, Mitchell would continue to act on his own accord, leaving Smitty to clean up the mess with the local authorities.

In later cases, Mitchell would continue to act on his own accord, leaving Smitty to clean up the mess with the local authorities. Sometimes, that worked to her advantage, such as when she faced her own traumatic past in England, but she also knew that working with local authorities was a delicate matter. In some cases, the Fly Team was almost kicked off the case by the local authorities, such as when Mitchell, Booth, and the team tracked down Csonka again after Vo almost lost her life.

Mitchell Continues His Rogue Nature In FBI: International (And Smitty May Not Be Able To Fix It)
Smitty Doesn’t Have A Magic Wand

In fact, Smitty wasn’t happy with the entire situation in Paris, making it clear she wouldn’t cover for Booth if he pushed for a GS-14 position. Smitty is only willing to go so far when it comes to rogue actions to get the job done, as she can’t threaten her own job or the rest of the team. Even if she understood and stood by the actions, she can’t wave a magic wand and fix everything, potentially leading to Mitchell’s firing now that FBI: International has been canceled.

This has almost happened before, such as when Mitchell’s actions in Paris came up when Agent Riley Quinn (Veronica St. Clair) noticed an email about it, leading to Agent David Zaleski (John Emmet Tracy) almost having what he needed to have Mitchell brought back Stateside and reprimanded. Mitchell doesn’t apologize for the actions he’s taken to get the job done, and he’s not learning from mistakes of the past. This sets up a way for FBI: International to end, as Mitchell could go rogue one final way that nobody can save him, and wind up losing his position and his freedom.
