Georgie and Mandy are finally married, but the happy occasion in Young Sheldon season 7 also secretly foreshadows George’s impending death.
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Young Sheldon season 7, episode 7.
Amid Georgie and Mandy’s wedding episode, Young Sheldon season 7 also secretly drops a clue as to how George dies. Long before CBS ordered the prequel, The Big Bang Theory established the Cooper patriarch’s demise. While there is still some confusion over the finer details about the matter, with Young Sheldon‘s Germany storyline making things worse, it has been confirmed that he will indeed meet his end before the show wraps up. Aside from waiting for when exactly he will pass away, another big question leading to arguably the biggest Cooper family tragedy is how George will die.
Following Sheldon and Mary’s return from Germany, the prequel’s storytelling has been more focused on Georgie and Mandy’s story. The pair got engaged in the Young Sheldon season 6 finale, but instead of saving their wedding for their own spinoff, which will be part of CBS’ 2024-2025 TV slate, they tie the knot in “A Proper Wedding and Skeletons in the Closet.” Coming from a chaotic baptism for Baby Cece, the pair was planning on having the ceremony with just Meemaw and Dale as witnesses. That said, both their families rush to the courthouse just in time for the ceremony.
George Struggles Breathing Before Georgie And Mandy’s Wedding
Young Sheldon Has Established George’s Heart Problems.
Just before Mandy and Georgie enter the judge’s chambers for their ceremony, the Coopers, sans Sheldon, run to make sure that they are present for the special occasion. As it turns out, Meemaw called them despite Mandy not wanting any of them to be there. Mary and Missy look more concerned about missing the event, but George looks unusually winded at the back. In the past, he has had heart problems, with the Cooper patriarch ending up in the hospital twice throughout Young Sheldon‘s run. His struggles with breathing may be an indication of another upcoming heart attack.
For context, The Big Bang Theory never really revealed how George died. That said, there were some allusions to his cause of death. For starters, the tragedy sounded unexpected, which fits with how Young Sheldon is handling the upcoming event. Couple that with Sheldon’s repeated stories about his dad’s unhealthy habits — something that the prequel backs up, then it’s safe to say that George will die of a heart attack. After having two minor incidents in the past, his potential third trip to the hospital in Young Sheldon season 7 will likely end up being his last.
When George Might Die In Young Sheldon
Young Sheldon Only Has Seven Episodes Left Before Fully Ending.
With Young Sheldon officially retconning George’s cheating scandal, he doesn’t have any lingering arcs left. This means that he can die anytime moving forward. For context, there are only seven episodes left before it wraps up. Set images suggest that the Young Sheldon cast already filmed George’s funeral scene, meaning that, unlike theories that the tragedy will happen off-screen and be revealed via adult Sheldon’s narration, the show will tackle the incident. Ideally, however, George’s death happens a couple of episodes before the finale so Young Sheldon still has time to recover and come up with a feel-good ending.
