In 2024, Disney is set for changes. Following a string of underperforming MCU releases in 2023, Bob Iger emphasized a shift towards prioritizing quality over quantity in their content production. With over 20 MCU projects in various stages of development and numerous Star Wars shows and movies in the pipeline, many announced during the 2023 Star Wars Celebration event, Disney+ has now confirmed several of these upcoming projects. 1. ‘X-Men ’97’ — March 20

‘X-Men ’97’ debuts on the platform with its first two episodes premiering on March 20, 2024. The series will comprise 10 episodes, each with an average runtime of 30 minutes. As a continuation of ‘X-Men: The Animated Series,’ it exists outside the MCU canon, residing within its own timeline. Nevertheless, for those seeking a nostalgic trip, this is an unmissable treat.

2. ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ — June 5

‘The Acolyte’ was announced to be in development in 2020. Set at the end of the High Republic Era, 100 years before ‘Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace,’ the show will follow a “former Padawan” reuniting with her Jedi Master as they investigate a series of crimes. It is scheduled for release on Disney+ on June 5 and will consist of 8 episodes.

3. ‘Agatha’ – Fall 2024

‘Agatha’ is a spinoff of ‘WandaVision’ and will track Agatha Harkness’s journey after the events of the show. The series faced delays during development, and notably, it frequently changed its title. Presently, it goes by ‘Agatha.’ While a release date is not confirmed yet, it is set to premiere in late fall 2024, just in time for Halloween.

4. ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ — 2024

‘Skeleton Crew’ was initially slated for release in 2023, with a trailer prepared for private screening during the Celebration event. However, due to delays caused by the SAG-AFTRA strike, necessary adjustments to the show weren’t made on schedule. Consequently, the premiere has been rescheduled for 2024. The storyline revolves around four children who become lost and embark on an adventure after making a remarkable discovery on their home planet. The series will comprise eight episodes.

5. ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ — 2024

Marvel Studios announced ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ in 2023, and details are scarce. The show is set in the past and tracks Wakanda Warriors on a mission to retrieve Wakandan artifacts across distant lands. Although the animated series was confirmed just a few months ago, it’s set to premiere on Disney+ in 2024 as part of Phase 5.
