‘The Knick’ star Eric Johnson joins ‘Fifty Shades’ sequel
The Knick star Eric Johnson is in talks to appear in Fifty Shades of Gray sequel Fifty Shades Darker as Jack Hyde, an editor who tries to pressure Anastasia Steele sexually and becomes Christian Grey’s nemesis in the process. Variety first reported the news, and the official Fifty Shades Twitter account later retweeted the story.
Fifty Shades Darker is based on E L James’ 2012 book of the same name and follows the box office success of Fifty Shades of Gray, which premiered in February 2015 and went on to set the records for biggest Valentine’s Day opening and biggest Presidents Day debut.
Although Sam Taylor-Johnson directed the first film in the franchise, James Foley will helm Darker as well as another sequel, Fifty Shades Freed. Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are set to reprise their roles as Anastasia and Christian.
As previously announced, Fifty Shades Darker will also feature Kim Basinger as Christian’s ex-lover and Bella Heathcote as Christian’s former BDSM partner. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters Feb. 10, 2017.
