Joan & Chock’s NYC Plans on Hold—Are They Already Building a Life in Wichita?

The Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple appear to be narrowing their search for a home base as their dreams of New York City come to a halt. Joan and Chock have been on cloud nine since their whirlwind romance began on The Golden Bachelorette season 1. Joan had many viable suitors, but none could compete with the comfort and security she found in Chock. He officially won Joan’s heart in the finale when he presented her with a key that symbolized their future home in New York City.

Joan and Chock agreed to a long-distance relationship, bouncing back and forth between Joan’s home in Maryland and Chock’s home in Wichita, Kansas. Their plans also included purchasing an NYC pad as a third home. However, Joan and Chock have yet to move to the city, and it seems their endless traveling may no longer be ideal. As more of Joan and Chock’s social media posts revolve around life in Kansas, I suspect they may have already established Chock’s hometown as their permanent base.

Chock Shared An Instagram Story At A Kansas Resort
He Enjoyed A Weekend Getaway With His Guy Friends

On March 10, Chock’s Instagram Story featured several photos of Flint Oak, a hunting resort in Kansas. He wrote he’d spent a “great weekend with the guys” at the ranch. The photos included a bottle of wine, a serene riverbed, and a helicopter, suggesting Chock and his friends had enjoyed some relaxation, along with adventure in the great outdoors.

Chock’s weekend escape in Kansas seems like an interesting choice, considering he and Joan travel so frequently. It hints that he’s spending a large amount of time in Kansas. Chock was able to get away for a staycation, which isn’t something he’d be likely to do if his cherished time at home was limited. According to Chock’s feed, he’s been in Wichita for much of 2025, often with Joan by his side.

Joan Has Been Spending A Lot Of Time In Kansas
She Rang In The New Year With Chock’s Pals

While Joan frequently visits Chock in Kansas, she’s been spending more time than ever there in the new year. Joan and Chock celebrated New Year’s Eve in Wichita with his friends, whom Joan affectionately described as “my new friends.” They rounded out their trip by exploring the city, with Chock introducing Joan to several of his favorite restaurants.

With the amount of time she’s spending in Kansas, it’s possible she already considers it her home.

In addition to making her way around the city, Joan’s also been making herself comfortable in Chock’s house. She helped him whittle down his massive sock collection and picked out throw pillows for his bedrooms. While these are minor changes, they speak to Joan’s investment in their life in Kansas. It’s unlikely she would be putting personal touches on Chock’s home if she didn’t plan to spend a lot of time there. There Is Still No News On The NYC Move
Their Plans Appear To Be On Hold

As Joan and Chock lean into life in Kansas, they seem to have put their NYC plans on the back burner. In December 2024, Joan explained that she and Chock had lost out on a potential purchase, crushing their dreams of being in the city for the holidays. Joan’s particular about what she wants, and she refuses to settle. She suggested she and Chock would postpone their house hunt until the spring, when there’s inventory on the market.

Chock & Joan Seem To Be Taking Their Time
Will There Ever Be A Wedding?

Chock is enjoying the simple things with Joan, such as a shopping trip where he tried on clothes that weren’t his usual style. See him model the designs above, via his Instagram. However, a wedding date is still “to be determined.” Fans would probably enjoy watching the couple tie the knot, but until they’re more settled in Wichita, it might be hard to pin them down.

Chock formerly had a nine-year engagement with Katherine Elizabeth White Goree, and sadly, she passed away due to cancer. However, before her illness, the duo didn’t appear to be in any great hurry to make things official. So, even if Chock and Joan do decide to live in Kansas full-time, it’s no guarantee that they’ll get married. Joan seems a bit hesitant to wed – it’s not just Chock. She had a long marriage to John Vassos, He passed away due to cancer in 2021.

In Wichita, Rockville, Maryland or New York City, Joan and Chock may find that they aren’t in any rush to get married. They’ve been there and done that. At their stage of life, maybe they find romance more fulfilling without the piece of paper. However, they do seem to be in love, and if Joan puts down roots in Wichita, they may decide to get married there.

A Wichita wedding could be fabulous. The city’s beautiful – an outdoor ceremony near a river might be romantic, or a wedding on Chock’s front lawn. He owns two homes in the city, and his main residence is fancy enough to be a beautiful wedding venue. The Golden Bachelorette stars are doing their best to get closer without rushing into marriage. A full-time life in Kansas might help them to really get to know each other.

I’m convinced Joan and Chock’s dreams of city living are dwindling. The idea seemed fun and romantic on The Golden Bachelorette, but now the new couple simply wants to be together. Purchasing a third home is an unnecessary complication. Joan and Chock are ready to settle into their life together, and it makes sense to do so in Kansas.
