Twenty-David went undercover at a bus station. They were looking for someone known as Goliath. Only they have no idea what he looks like. They received intel that Goliath was coming to town to pick up an encrypted hard drive left for him in one of the lockers and so they kept eyes on that locker. They waited around to see who would open it, but they didn’t count on a crew that was running from a botched robbery. The crew was on the run. They ditched their van at the bus stop. They tried to get on the next bus leaving town and unfortunately they missed it by a few minutes.
The cops tracking the crew eventually followed them to the bus station. One of the men opened fire. It led to a shootout and the armed crew took everyone at the bus station hostage. This included Goliath. Goliath used the hostage situation to his benefit. He grabbed that hard drive from the locker when no one was looking. SWAT didn’t realize that until they saw the open locker. They were wearing earpieces and so they were in constant contact with their boss. Deputy Chief Bennett was also on the line.
Bennett has been babysitting SWAT since Hicks went over her head to get Officer Gamble back. Now, she wants a say on every case. She was higher up in command than Hicks. It was therefore her choice to let the hostage situation play out. Goliath was the priority. There was no one that came in after the whole bus station got taken hostage. Goliath was trapped inside with them. The crew was searching everybody and so SWAT had to ditch their gear. Their guns, their badges, and some of them had to ditch their earpieces.
They were all trapped in there with no way of contacting the outside. Hicks as well as Bennett were left blind. Hicks wanted to give the crew what they wanted. End things peacefully. Bennett voted against that. She said Goliath would get pass the perimeter if they allow the crew to escape with the hostages. Bennett also voted against another SWAT team breaching the bus station. She didn’t want Goliath to panic or toss the evidence. Goliath wasn’t some run of the mill bad guy. He was a terrorist. He’s killed people.
Goliath bombed the FBI field office in Kansas. There was a chance that he was in LA for another attack. Compared to him, this robbery crew were small time crooks. Bennett didn’t think they were dangerous. She thought that because she didn’t overhear those same men threaten the hostages. One of the men from the crew was shot. Hondo said he was a medic in the military. He offered to help as long as he could bring his “sister” with him. Gamble was the sister. They did their best to treat the gunmen only he was still bleeding out.
Hondo said they needed something called “Quick Clot”. It would stop the bleeding. It would also allow the injured man to regain full mobility. Hondo and Gamble talked the gunmen into making that one of their demands. The cops demanded the cell phones and wallets of the hostages in return. The crew didn’t know that there were cops in the bus station with them. Or that the cops were checking out three possible suspects because one of them was bound to be Goliath. Miko watched one suspect. Tan watched the second. Deacon watched the third and only woman.
Tan’s suspect claimed he needed to use the bathroom. Tan said the same so that he wouldn’t lose eyes on the guy. He thought he was Goliath and he wasn’t. He was just a junkie. He stole his kit. He was going to shoot up in the bathroom. Tan found it when he grabbed it off the guy. It wasn’t the hard drive. The guy realized Tan was a cop and both men got in trouble. The crew thought they were just junkies until one guy tried to be a hero. The hero was named Andrew. He saw a gun that the cops ditched. He grabbed it. He tried to use it.
Andrew didn’t know the safety was on. The gun got taken off him. They asked the man where he found it and he said it was in a potted plant. The leader checked that plant. He found the badge. He was going to kill people if the cop didn’t come forward. Tan had to reveal himself or the junkie would have done it for him. The crew also checked all the trash cans. They found three other badges and guns. Hondo, Deacon, and Miko came forward as cops. The crew now felt secure to make even more outrageous demands. And so Hicks wanted the second SWAT team move in.
Bennett overruled him. The two of them argued about it. Hicks gave her exactly what she wanted. He tried to order his people to breach anyway and for trying to break command – he was benched. He was no longer allowed into command. He was facing disciplinary action. With Hicks no longer involved, Bennett did what he suggested from the start. She gave the crew what they wanted. They demanded two buses that have their windows blacked out and they got just that. The crew split up the hostages into the two buses.
They split up the cops as well. They were riding on the buses when Tan realized that Andrew played him. Andrew didn’t reach for the gun until Tan mentioned all the cops outside and so his “mistake” was a ploy. Andrew knew that the cops were there. He deliberately led to their capture because he wanted to escape with the crew. His plan would have worked if Tan hadn’t caught onto him. Andrew could tell that Tan figured him out. Tan gave him such a look that he could see it in an instant. Andrew grabbed one of the guns from the crew. Tan took him on. And Deacon fought the guy that was driving the bus.
Miko, Hondo, and Gamble took care of the others guys on the second bus. The crew wasn’t prepared for highly trained SWAT officers and so they were easily taken down. Tan eventually subdued Andrew. He got the hard drive and it was revealed that Andrew didn’t lie to Tan about everything. He and his girlfriend were robbed. His girlfriend was shot during the robbery. She died from her injuries and the part Andrew lied about was who to blame. He blamed the FBI for his girlfriend’s death.
Andrew thought his blog posts about conspiracy theories must have been onto something. He thinks the robbery was to keep him quiet. He went further down the rabbit hole after he lost girlfriend and they were a lot of people willing to confirm that bias for him. He blamed the FBI for his girlfriend’s death. He planned on killing as many federal agents as possible and now he was looking at life in a federal prison thanks to twenty-David. They did great work.
Yet, it was Bennett that was taking the win for capturing a terrorist. She was using her newfound cred to make friends with the Chief of Police. She was aiming to take down Hicks. And after tonight she might get it.
