Did Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist sign a prenup? She has a huge fortune
After the Hollywood Reporter’s exposé on Gerry Turner was released, fans have been encouraging Theresa Nist to get a prenup to protect her fortune.
Ever since the Hollywood Reporter’s exposé on the Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner was released just days before the series finale, fans have been worried about the potential financial motivations behind Gerry’s pick.
Fans were shocked when Gerry seemed to have a last-minute change of heart after the Fantasy Suites, where he brutally dumped Leslie Fhima and proposed to Theresa Nist.
During Gerry and Theresa’s time in Costa Rica, the duo had a conversation where he learned more about her career in finance. The conversation was aired just before the article came out, which found that Gerry had lied about his romantic history – having a live-in girlfriend after his wife died before coming on the show – and had inflated his resume.
Between the couple’s conversation and the timely article, many fans made assumptions about Gerry’s motivations for picking Theresa, however, the Golden Bachelor has clapbacked at these allegations, saying their conversation about her career impressed him because it showed her problem-solving skills.
As a result, fans have been pushed for the couple to get a prenup, however, it is unknown to the public if the newlyweds have done so or not. Here is what we know.
A family attorney Julia Rodgers, CEO of HelloPrenup, told Bustle that she advises the couple to pursue a prenup to “preserve familial comfort and relationships.”
“Theresa’s kids are going to want to know her assets are protected [and] Gerry’s kids are going to want to know his assets are protected,” she says.
It is unknown to the public whether the newly weds have a prenup, however, insider sources told OK! Magazine that the two were separated on the decision. Gerry reported doesn’t want a prenup, while Theresa has been vocal about having one.
“He’s offended that she doesn’t trust him,” the source told a publication. “They’re bickering all the time now — unless the cameras are on.”
At the top of the year, the couple got married live thanks to wedding officiant Susan Noles who is also Gerry’s ex and Theresa’s pal. While the two shared tear-jerking vows and were seen having a blast at their celebration, the insider told OK! Magazine that things are not picture-perfect behind closed doors.
“She wants to stick it out, though her friends think it’s for the wrong reasons,” the source said.
It is believed that Gerry’s net worth is estimated to be around $1.5 million while Theresa’s net worth is estimated to be around between $500,000 and $1 million.
Despite the fans being flamed online about the newlyweds rumored relationship drama, the couple have denied internet rumors and share that they are happy and excited for the future.
A psychiatrist who has experience vetting former reality stars told the Daily Express that Theresa needs to sign a prenup to protect herself. Carole Lieberman, M.D., argues that the couple are on “cloud nine” with all the post-show excitement, but once the dust settles, and they have to make serious decisions such as putting a down payment on a house, that reality will set print.
“Those things, I think, will start to wear away at the fairytale aspect of the relationship,” she says. “I’m just worried for Theresa’s heart and Theresa’s pocketbook.”
While the couple are leaning towards settling down in Charleston, South Carolina, nearby one of her son’s and grandson, the couple recently shared that they are also considering moving to Theresa’s home state of New Jersey.
The Jersey girl of Italian descent has been winning and dining her Midwestern husband, which she claims may make him stay in the Garden State for good.
