What happened to the cast of Sanford and Son?

Redd Foxx, Fred Sanford of course : Had a legitimate heart attack in 1991, at age 68 on the set of his then sitcom “The Royal Family”. If he were here now, he’d be 98 .

Demond Wilson who played Lamont Sanford is age 74 now. With the end of the series and after 2 failed sitcoms “Baby I’m Back” 1978 and “The New Odd Couple” 1983. He dropped out of acting for 21 years. He returned to guest in 5 episodes of the sitcom “Girlfriends” in 2004/2005. He’s now retired.

LaWanda Page, who played Aunt Easter, passed away at age 81 in 2002. If she had lived to October 2020, she would have been 100.

Nathaniel Taylor, who played LaMont’s friend Rollo, died 2 years ago in February 2019 he was 80.

Actor Gregory Sierra, who played the Sanford’s neighbor Julio Fuentes, passed away January 4th, 2021 at age 83.

Don Bexley who played Fred Sanford’s best friend “Bubba”, passed away in 1997 at age 83. Born in 1910, he would have been 110 now.

Lynn Hamilton who played Fred Sanford’s love interest Nurse Donna Harris. She turned 90 in 2020, her next birthday is in April.

Whitman Mayo, who played Fred’s other friend Grady Wilson, passed away in 2001 at age 70. Born in 1930, he would have been 90 now.

Howard T. Platt who played neighborhood Police Officer Hopkins aka ‘Hoppy’, he turned 82 in June 2020.

Hal Willams, played Hopkins police partner “Smitty”, just turned 82 on December 14th, 2020. (Hal has co-starred in 9 well known TV series but has a career of nearly 52 years.) He’s best known as Lester Jenkins, on the Marla Gibbs, NBC, sitcom “227” (1985 – 1990).
